WOW! I wasn't trying to start a "class" war! Geez!

If you don't care to read about my "self-congratualtory-drivil" PLEASE don't read on. Save your time. Thanks for your post anyway.

Day Three: Yesterday we went to Shoal Bay. Probably better water and beach than Cap J. The pace is still laid back and the snorkling better. Went to Uncle Ernies and even met him. Though I doubt he'll remember. Food was great in a simple homemade wonderful way. There was a musician at Uncle E's playing solo. It was mellow and soothing. There was was supposed to be several bands, we thought by our research on Fodor's and elsewhere, but there was not. One down the beach and one at Uncle E's. It was fine though, "No Problems" as they say. By about four our cab driver Clevette picked us up and went back to the hotel. Went to dinner at Georges, had a good meal and called it a night. TIP: Stick to seafood while you're here,
they do that really well.

Tuesday we are venturing out and about on the island. We're renting a car and hopefully won't get lost!

Marcie! Altamer is better than the infamous Straw Hat?! You know you might start another war of words, don't you?

By the way, this is our first time to Anguilla. We probably wouldn't stay at Cap again, but we'd definitly recommend it! We'll be back.

I'll post on Wednesday.

Marcie, don't get me wrong, I love it here. I should have said I'd go to another area. Shoal Bay maybe. I'm looking at the cost part of it. Wait, before I spark another international debate let me take all that back till the end of the trip. Thanks for you post.

Thanks to David for his posts - keep them coming.

I just have two comments:

1. We thought the snorkelling off the beach at Cap (in late February) was poor. The water was great (very clear) but there's nothing much to see.

2. I loved Cap (and post my satisfaction when people ask about it) but share David's view that I wouldn't stay there again - at least not in high season. We enjoyed our time there but, for us, it wasn't worth the money (except, of course, it was our honeymoon so for that special occasion it was worth the money). If we go to Anguilla again we'd stay somewhere like the Sonesta, Cuisinart or Covecastles. We spent such a small amount of time at Cap (compared to our total time on the island) that it just wasn't worth the expense.

Just my two cents...

You may want to check out Frangipani while you're there -- we stayed there for the 1st time in Nov. (6th trip to Anguilla) & there is NOTHING like waking up in the morning & strolling down Mead's Bay. The suites are lovely & it's quite reasonable. Am enjoying your posts (living vicariously).

I agree, Frangipani is the place to stay in Anguilla as Mead's Bay is such a fabulous beach. Gratn, thanks for your frankness and David, great reports and keep them coming (of course unless you get sidetracked by too many rum punches, we'll forgive you)!!!

Spent a week Oceanfront withing "spittin distance" of the water on Meads Bay at Carimar...couldn't imagine better dining at the fancy-shmancy restaurants than we prepared at our oceanfront property--- brought "Gourmet" food and wine from home --- best, most relaxing/ inexpensive week imaginable!

I can't understand why some people are getting so hyped up about why you are posting! There is nothing in your posts which could be remotely upsetting to others.
Nancy- you only have class if you post on this forum AFTER your holiday?????(explain that- however as his postings are boring, according to you, you won't be reading this anyway!! Strangely though, I note that you must have visited this "boring" post several times already!! Haven't you anything better to do?) He seems to have had some good advice while he is there so it has definitely helped him.
For those who don't find the post interesting, some advice- don't read it again!!!!! Problem solved!

David. Have topped" # of times to Anguilla" post for you.You will see a brilliant quote from Nancy there which makes a mockery of her post here!
"I don't really pay attention to fatuous things people say unless I care about them and their opinion, so don't let it irritate you."
So David, she cares after all despite the denials!!!!!!!
