If Planning a trip-Check Cricket World Cup Dates

Thanks to another poster (ejcrowe) I now know why I am having problems with airfare and lodging in the Caribbean --

Here is some info from the official website:

Q. When will next the ICC Cricket World Cup take place?
A. The next ICC Cricket World Cup takes place in 2007. The tournament begins on
March 13th at Sabina Park, Jamaica and ends with the final on April 28th at
Kensington Oval, Barbados.

Q. Which countries are hosting which matches?
A. Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts, Saint Lucia & Trinidad
are all hosting matches.
The matches were awarded in packages as follows:
Antigua: Awarded the Red Package: Six Super 8 Games
Barbados: Awarded the Black Package: Six Super 8 Games, the Final, and
the Closing Presentation
Grenada: Awarded the Green Package: Six Super 8 Games
Guyana: Awarded the Green Package: Six Super 8 Games
Jamaica: Awarded the Yellow Package: Six first round games, a semi-final
game and the Opening Ceremony
St. Kitts: Awarded the Orange Package: Six matches in the first round
Saint Lucia: Awarded the Blue Package: Six first round games, and a semi-
final game
Trinidad: Awarded the Brown Package. Six first round matches

Here is the website for detailed info on dates and islands impacted by the world cup:

www.cricketworldcup.com/MatchSchedule.html

Hope that helps your planning.

Thanks for posting the full info, BeachGirl. I had no idea that Guyana and St. Lucia were also hosts. What a boon this will be for hoteliers and guest house owners throughout the region, but I have to wonder how much strain all of the extra visitors at once will have on various islands' resources.

On the island of St. Kitts most of the hotels are already sold out, and flights are very full.

They have started a new Homestay Program. www.stkittshomestay.com

If you are not a cricket nut, then look at the islands that are not hosting matches, with over 30 Caribbean destinations and only 8 hosts, then there are still a lot of choices
