Leilani:

I know I am going to get jumped on again. I have no idea why a few on this board insist on trashing the Hyatt. This may sound very arrogant(I'm waiting for the slams coming back)....but we have traveled extensively throughout the world. And, we have either stayed at or visited the best hotels. I have NEVER chosen the wrong hotel, because I do research first. This is it....the Hyatt is the BEST property on Aruba. It's not the Ritz, but it is your best choice. Apparently, the others who disagree are not sophisticated travelers and aren't able to recognize this. Please report back!! Now, I am going to wait to get my head chopped off!!

To Linda
Your opinion is Hyatt is the BEST on Aruba is YOUR opinion. I chose never to stay at the Hyatt. The beach area is smaller than most, as well as the balconies, too crowded, too many kids. I go to relax. The difference in price is mininal between the better resorts so money is no issue, comfort is.The Haytt is at the botton of my list, MY OPINION.

Linda, if you're such a sophisticated traveler, which I really don't think you are, then why can't you see that the rooms at the Hyatt are VERY average, small, unimpressive and with no balconies?!? Actually, Linda, I think YOU need to do quite a bit more traveling yourself, in MY opinion!!

It is common knowledge on this board that the Hyatt rooms are small and nothing special. Why would anyone choose a hotel only on the basis of room size, new decorating, or a balcony?? That's what I MEAN about unsophisticated!! You need to look at the whole property. Unless you are just planning to stay in your room. I will repeat, the Hyatt is the best PROPERTY!!

To Linda, Just can't understand your reasoning as to why the Hyatt is the best. Yes the grounds are beautiful to look at, but consider the pool area which is crowded, unlike that of the Raddison. The beach area is less desirable than most, that is why they cater to the grounds. Service is as good as the individual employee. If the room is unimportant to you, what is. You must have based your opinion on SOMETHING. Please let us all know. If you are in need of a sophiticated resort in order to enjoy yourself, you have a limited scope. My condolences.

Hey Sue......One of the unwritten rules of this board is that you need to use punctuation, grammar, proper spelling and sentence structure. What is your educational level or were you just on something???

And Al, what are you doing posting in the middle of the night? What is your line of work??? I doubt very much if you are a professional with a high paying job. No wonder you are not able to recognize quality!! You and Sue are positively scary. You are out of touch with reality. Stay at your low end hotels and keep away from the rest of us!! I would love to see what you two look like!

This forum is supposed to be a place to share travel information. A few people have insisted on turning it into a boxing ring. People should be able to voice their opinion without a few toxic people attacking like sharks.

I have no intention of returning to Aruba. We just went for a 5 night mini trip. I'm tired of sparring with the same nutcases over things that really aren't that important. I do enjoy a good fight, but it is pointless to keep arguing with the same toxic folks who are spoiling this board. I thought I was just worried about terrorists, but I'm deathly afraid of some of the people on this board. Seriously!! Hopefully they are only taking out their frustrations here instead of beating up their wives and kids.

Oops.....forgot to finish. It is going to be VERY hard and I am going to muster up all of my self control, but I am getting off of this board as of now. So, nutcases, you need not respond, because I won't be reading it. See you on the Europe board where there are trolls, toxic folks and nutcases, but not as many .

Wow Buddy, Get a life. The topic is Aruba and the Hyatt, not What's Your Line. As far as education goes, it's WAY beyond yours. What are you doing posting at 9am??? Most professionals are hard at work by that time!!! What does Al's job, have to do with anything! If anyone if positively scary, it's YOU. Do you know where Aruba is?? Can you say Aruba?? The topic is ARUBA.!! How's that for punctuation????

Well, Buddy, quite frankly, it's none of your damn business WHAT I'm doing up at these hours! And it's obvious that you know nothing about professionals at all because if you did you would realize that there are MANY of us up at these hours, including many attorneys who work late into the wee hours on briefs, pleadings, etc.! So, on that account, you can now go back to your high paying Security Guard position with your tail between your legs!!

So Sue and I are positively scary and can't recognize quality?!? If your idea of "quality" is the Hyatt, especially those Holiday Inn-type rooms, then it is really YOU who is quite the scary one! As for what we look like--I'm sure Sue and I look like we just stepped off the cover of Vanity Fair or GQ while YOU, Little Bud, probably look like you stepped off the cover of "NASCAR 2002!!!"

That's very funny Al.

I guess the attorneys that are preparing briefs, pleadings (whether they are ex partes or sj, etc.) staying up at wee hours are the ones that consider a "Hyatt" to be a not so quality hotel (is that what you are implying), however, I guess the professionals such as the attorneys and investment bankers that prepare purchase agreements, offering memoranda, etc. staying up 7/24 are the ones that consider the Hyatt in Aruba as a very high quality hotel.

Please speak for yourself and not all the professionals because I stayed at the Hyatt in February and I loved it. Colleagues of mine have also stayed there, they loved it. My husband is an investment banker, he obviously loved it. and, amazing, we are professionals who consider Hyatt to be a high quality hotel.

We stayed at the Hyatt a few years ago and loved it! Especially the lobby, so tropical and breezy. Then we stayed at the Allegro next door in it's last weeks as the Americana....boy, did we wish we were at the Hyatt! Anyway, we recommended the Hyatt to our daughter for her honeymoon (wedding 9/7/02). The travel agent steered her away from it because the pool is being renovated at that time.....I would check out that bit of info, it could really change the enjoyment level of your vacation. Whatever you do, you're sure to enjoy this beautiful island, the people are wonderful. Papiamento (spelling?) was wonderful, hear it still is. Enjoy!

To M&A, Lighten up, you sound as if Al was attacking attorneys. And where did the investment bankers come from? Are you related to Buddy? It's quite clear you are not reading the previous replies. Bottom line is neither the Hyatt nor the Radisson are HIGH quality resorts. Granted they are two out of three of the best that Aruba has to offer. However, if that is your idea of high quality, you need to get out a little more. Aruba is a great place to kick back and relax on a safe and moderatly priced island. We love it. Al was commenting on Buddy's remarks and did quite well. Thank you Al. P.S. If you feel the Hyatt is a high class resort, then I guess it must be. If the Hyatt is the resort of choice for the attorneys, I'll be at the Radisson or Marriot, thank you.

This thread is exactly what other threads have complained about. No need for bashing of any kind. Just say, "I disagree and here is why." Then state your experiences. I have heard good things about all the hotels listed. But before ever hearing of Fodors, I booked at the Divi. It's a good thing I hadn't heard of Fodors because it is bashed on this site. However, we went their twice and loved it. Good food, service, and nice guests. It was a good value. Just my opinion, and I would not try to convince anyone.
