St. John is the ultimate paradise in my estimation. My husband has a time share at St. Thomas but I love St. John hands down. If you like remote, uncrowded beaches that are absolutely beautiful, then St. John and all the wonderful beaches is the place to be. good luck on your marriage and your honeymoon.

I prefer Tortola but you could always stay 3 days on St. John & 4 on Tortola. I like Tortola because it is not crowded, you'll be the only one on the beach! It is very tropical & lush. You can take a day trip to St. Thomas for shopping & then a day trip to Virgin Gorda to see the baths which are incredible. You can hike on Mt. Sage. Best resturant is Sebastians in my opinion. Go to Pussers after dinner & get a Painkiller- best drink in the world!! I made the BIG mistake of going to St. Martin in June because I wanted to try somewhere different. Boy, I missed those palm trees, flowers, clean beaches & nice local people!! I found myself comparing the 2 islands & there was no comparison. You'll love Tortola!!

Wow.. now I'm extremely confused.. I looked on here, because originally we were thinking of Ladera/Hilton in St. Lucia, and someone mentioned that the water/beaches aren't as great as we hoped...that they were darker, and not as nice.. etc. so we decided to look into St. John and after all this I don't know where to go?! Anyone been to St. John and St. Lucia? Suggestions? Honeymoon is May '01 also...

Nicole:
If your interest is mainly beautiful water and beaches and up scale comfort than you most likely want Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos. That should confuse you more. The sand in St. Lucia
is affected by the volcanic nature of the island. Also larger islands have less clear waters due to larger populations. It cost a lot to haul everything away. Considering your choice of a Hilton in St. Lucia you would most likely be very happy with Caneel Bay with a split with Little Dix. Yes, Bira Creek is an excellent location for people that do not expect some of the feature of a corporate resort. The food is better and you are closer to real nature.
