Tyler, I have been to both with 2 children 7 and 9 and wife. I would say St.John is much easier to navigate, many more white sand beaches, more of an American feel in the Carib. I have stayed at Westin many times---more of a family place--beach is man-made with seaweed. It is hilly, but diverse.
On the other hand we spent two weeks at Jalousie this summer---island is extremely lush, french patious spoken all over the island---everybody speaks good english though also. Most non-north american place I have been--more Europeans, more rustic, more lushness, people very friendly in my opinion, more hilly than STJ----overall we were blown away. But you will need to want an experience and plan on travel being more lengthy around the island. We loved Jalousie---good plunge pool, loved the rest. at Ladera---would even stay there if going back. Anse has no A/C and alot of steps. It was VERY hot the day I toured it, but the food was very good. Just be prepared for no a/c and many steps.
Personally, I would pick Caneel for a Honeymoon, but would recomend Cap Jaluca on Anguilla or Peter Island for a Honeymoon.
If adventure, scenery, a true cultural experienc, warm people you want then go to Jalousie. We loved it and Many honeymooners there when we were there two weeks in July 04.
What's great about the Carib. is everybody sees something of their own in all these places. I just love going to all the islands----the pre-planning, envisioning what to expect and then getting there. They are all good in my opinion in their own way. Good luck. I will answer any questions you may further have.
