honeymoon help (leaving Dec, 26)
Hi,
My fiance and I have changed our minds so many times about our honeymoon that now we are running out of time to book something! We will be going after Christmas and probably staying 5 days. I know this is more expensive than other times of the year. Can anyone help us decide what island to go to (bahamas, aruba, jamaica?) and where would be the warmest weather in December? Should we do the resort thing? I have seen several packages online in our price range but we need to book soon before they fill up for the holidays. Any help would be appreciated! Which of these three places would be the warmest and not too expensive? we are flying from atlanta. Thank you all!!!
The sky's the limits at this point. I think if you were more specific with your criteria it would be more helpful. For example, where are you flying from? What do you want to do when you're there? Is snorkeling, nightclubs, or the color of the sand and the water important to you? Do you want an all-inclusive or a non-all-inclusive hotel? Or do you want something small and quaint, big and fancy, etc? Anything else you can think of will help us to help you.

Aruba is ideal. Great weather, awesome beaches, excellent dining options, very safe and non-stop flight from Atlanta. We just booked thru Travel Unlimited at www.travelunlimited.com and got the best rates. Thank you the person who recommended them on this bb.

Think that if you are seeking really warm weather, you might be better off going a bit further south than the Bahamas and head for the Caribb. However, the week between Christmas and NewYears is really peak. Some places do have minimum stays during the Holidays but those rules are probably flexible given traveling concerns. If you really have no idea what you want in a resort or an island, maybe talking to a travel agent would help to lay some groundwork. Packages might be a good thing for you since they often tie air and land together. Of the three, I suspect Aruba would be the least expensive and it is one of the most southern islands. Most people who are going away for the holidays have made plans long ago so I shouldn't think that you should worry too much about their filling up. The air might be tougher to get.

We honeymooned in Aruba last Sept. at the Tamarijn. Had a marvelous time. It is not the prettiest as it is a bit older, but all rooms are ocean view and you cannot get closer to the beach as you step out your patio door, you are there. Rooms are average but the food and drink were wonderful. We liked the arrangement of everything and would go again. Be sure to take the snorkel trip to see the wreck as well as the off road jeep trip to the other side.

If going for 5 days, I would not fly all the way to Aruba - too much lost time. Bahamas and Jamaica are both much closer.

As far as weather though - Bahamas can be iffy so I would rule that one out.

In Jamaica, Negril is the spot to go. Great beaches anad thee are many good packages offered right now.

Penney
