Help - my honeymoon at Galley Bay is cancelled

I had reservations for my honeymoon at Galley Bay (Antigua) in mid-September - with the recent temporary closer of the resort (due to water damage & renovations), I need a new resort for me and my fiancé. Any suggestions on similar, all-inclusive Caribbean resorts – not too large, a beautiful beach? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might look at Peter Island, Young Island, Palm Island and maybe Biras Creek.

I have no idea how they would compare, cost wise, but all seem to be popular honeymoon destinations.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Planning a wedding is stressful enough...and the honeymoon should be stress free.

Good luck and ask more questions. There are many here who would like to help

Caneel Bay looks beautiful - however, my fiance and I are sure that we want a 100% all-inclusive experience. Any other ideas/suggestions?

I assumed that since your choice was Galley Bay that you did want all-inclusive.

The places I suggested include meals, not sure about drinks.

I don't know how you feel about Jamaica, but Jamaica Inn is a wonderful property where you have the option of including all meals and beverages.

Cap Juluca is not all-inclusive.

Have no idea how this compares cost wise. Kamalame Cay ( http://www.kamalame.com/ ) off Andros in the Bahamas. Looks great for a honeymoon.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Fear not, someone is going to suggest something to replace Galley Bay.

My disclaimer first: I have not personally visited any of the following, but have been doing a lot of research.

If you want to stick with Antigua, Jumby Bay would be a wonderful choice, although it is more expensive than Galley Bay. Also check Nisbet Plantation or the 4S in Nevis (although drinks are not included with either meal plan), and Young Island. The latter might also be closed in September, however... I'd also look into Bermuda, perhaps The Reefs (again not complete AI). Also check the Caribbean section of Luxurylink.com. Good Luck! So sorry for your inconvenience; congratulations on your wedding!

Hi,

Just wanted to mention, if you do look at Luxurylink, be sure to call the resort directly first, before placing a bid, to compare the price. Also make sure they have availability during your honeymoon week.

Coco Bay Resort currently has a special running. It appears to be an AI in Antigua, running at appx $1555 for five nights. But that's all I know about it. Anyone else?
Here's the site:

Last March my husband and I stayed at the Moon Palace in Cancun. It is an AI and really beautiful. Had a great time, met a few honeymooners, but have to admit, did't see a lot of them ! It ran us about $3200.00 including air from NY
good luck

Beware of moon palace....ocean/sea is not very pretty. I stayed there and we went to another hotel in the palace chain to go in the water. And moon palace is a very large resort, something i think you were trying to avoid

Maybe I'm suffering from the Monday morning *grumps*...but we keep posting some good ideas and the OP has not replied.

Feedback for efforts taken is always appreciated...any day of the week.

My husband and I honeymooned at Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen last year. Wonderful all inclusive. We thought that it was pretty upscale for an all inclusive. Going to Couples Negril in August, so can't comment on it just yet.

If you're going on your honeymoon in mid-September, aren't you going to the Caribbean smack dab in the middle of the height of hurricane season? Aren't you better off considering an AI on Aruba, Curacao or Bonaire to at least improve your chances of good weather? I'd look into Curacao. Many folks on this board have raved about it.

Jamaica Inn is a lovely small resort that, while not really an AI, does have an all inclusive option. Even more exclusive is Goldeneye located nearby which operates on an all inclusive basis (4 villas here).
