Help! Grand Lido Negril or Braco

I'm planning a first-time trip to Jamaica with a small group of people in their very early thirties...our choices are either the Grand Lido Negril or Braco. If anybody has suggestions as to which would better suit us as far as atmosphere, nicest beach, accomodations and generally which area would be more fun for us that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Phil,

My husband & I (both 32) have been to all 3 Lidos and loved all of them. I'd say if you're going w/ a group, then GLB is probably a little more active. Also, GLB is about 1/2 hr closer to the airport (took us ~1 hr to get to GLB). We liked our room at GLN the best of the 3, though the balcony was very small there (Room 2075 on C.O. side). Our room at GLB was nice and had a big balcony (we were in Room 1135, which was Textile Side ROH). We also liked the food best at GLN, but GLB comes a close 2nd. Both GLB & GLN have 24 hr club houses for food & drinks which comes in handy sometimes (we missed that at GLSS). I guess to me, the way that GLB's main area is set up as a village just seems more social and probably more fun for a group.

Jackie
Negril is a great area and there is enough to do off the resort - beaches thee too, in my opinion, are far superior as well. However, GLN can be VERY quiet. Accomondations ar wonderful and it is a very luxuriouos and pampering resort but GLB is going to offer more nightlife and array of things to do. GLN is very laid back.

Well, to be honest, we've never left our resort in Jamaica, so I don't know about bars in Negril. But, like Penney said, GLN is definitely more quiet than GLB. The beach area is much nicer at GLN (at least on the textile side). At GLN you're on Bloody Bay which makes the water much calmer than GLB where you're right on the coast. My husband couldn't go scuba diving a few days at GLB because of the rough water (even the day he got to go, the visibility was very poor); so if you guys are really interested in water sports GLB probably isn't the best choice.
