Has Anyone Heard of the Divi Aruba Phoenix?

My travel agent is telling me about this new hotel called the Divi Aruba Phoenix which is located near the Wyndham. Has anyone heard of it and would you recommend staying there?

Check out the BB at www.arubatourism.com. This is a great site with a ton of info on Aruba.

If this is the same hotel that was formerly known as the divi aruba, I have stayed there several times and it is very nice. It has the best breakfast by the ocean of anywhere I have ever been. Don't pay the extra money to stay in the Casitas and the main building is just as nice.

The Pheonix was formally the Royale, a Time Share property. I stayed there about five years ago. At that time they were having financial problems and never completed the site. The rooms were lovely but the beach was horrible. They were supposed to dredge - don't know if they ever did. However, it is located just past Eagle Beach at the beginning of Palm Beach - very, very windy. We could not lie on the beach due to the sand hitting our faces.

As I understand it now the Pheonix will open to owners in April. Construction is still in progress and is not expected to be completed untill September. I would think the rooms are even nicer than before, but money is still a problem so be careful.

I don't think the Pheonix is associated with Divi - check it out. Oh, between the Wyndham and Pheonix is a public beach - mostly local families.Wyndham is probably the best choice.
Hope this helps. Have fun.

Divi has taken over the Aruba Phoenix, but I heard that the beach is a problem - stagnant water due to the artificial barriers that are there separating the beach from either side .... Wyndham was a great facility, hotel staff not great, but the facilities were wonderful - great pool, good beach.
