Grenada
My wife and I (seniors) are considering a trip to Grenada this winter. We're interested in a natural setting with hikes, snorkeling and simplicity. Is this a good destination? Is it necessary to rent a car? What part of the island should we consider?
Thank you

There's plenty of hiking on Grenada and you'll find some pretty decent snorkeling spots around the island.
For hiking check out the following:

For snorkeling start here:

If you want more info simply google "Hiking on Grenada" or Snorkeling on Grenada" and you'll find plenty of links.
Grenada is a fairly large island (135 sq. miles in area) rent a car if you want to have the freedom to come/go as you please. Taxis are another option but they can be costly and will exceed the cost of a rental car if you tend to travel a lot. Public mini-busses are an economic;l options but they are limited on weekends and at night. While they are a fun way to travel they are time consuming.
Stay in the Grand Anse area if you want to be near or on a beach.

Yes it is a very good destination. Beautiful island with a bit of everything; lovely beaches, jungley interior and rainforest, friendly locals. A rental car is an ideal way of getting around and exploring. Snorkelling isn't the greatest, that would be the only downside but if you are ok with seeing some fish etc underwater and do not have too high expectations, it should be perfectly fine.
