Grand Cayman - Which Stingray Tour to Take? - Updated
Hi All,
My wife and I are headed to GCM next week. Wondering which Stingray City tour to take? Has anyone had any good experiences with any particular tour operator? I saw that the most recent post on this particular topic was in 2006, so I decided to open up a new thread.
Thanks for any advice!

I would go in the afternoon. All the cruise ships get into port and most of the tours go in the morning so it is very crowded. We went in the afternoon and it was much more enjoyable. Sorry, can't remember which company we went with.

We went right through our hotel at the Marriott. (I guess Red Sail Sports). I would go with what was most convenient for you. If you are at a hotel, check into times and how many are on the boat. We also did the afternoon tour and found we were the only boat out there. We did i think it was a lunch cruise. It is well worth the trip.

just checked travelocity and st.louis to Grand cayman is not non stop, but I checked august 9-14th with hotel and airfare, the westin is very nice and is about 2300 for two for 5 nights, and the marriott, where we stayed and is also very nice is about 2200 for the five nights. So completely doable on 3000! Just check out all of your options. The GC is so nice and is a paradise of beautiful water and wonderful snorkeling!

I have done both Captain Marvin and Soto's. I can recommend both. Marvins stops at an additional snorkel spot I believe and is a bit bigger of a boat. We had good experiences on both. marvin's is walkbale from many resorts in the Westin vicinirt. Soto's is a bit of the main road but both will pick you up at your hotel.

We went with Soto. Nice boat and not very crowded. Personal attention from the staff. Capt. Marvins get more recommendations, but he caters to the cruise ships, so didn't want to get caught up in the crowds. I agree, go in the afternoon after the cruise ship people are done.

We used Captain Bryan, you can look them up online before you go and get schedules and phone number. Went to Stingray Sandbar, Coral Reef and Coral Gardens. Little smaller groups than the ones we have done in the past. You can snorkel at every stop. I think it was about 3 hours. Have a super time.
