Grand Cayman vs Aruba

I am trying to decide between Grand Cayman and Aruba for a September vacation. Any advice to help my decision would be greatly appreciated.
Mark:
I have never been to Grand Cayman so I couldn't compare the two, but I did enjoy my trip to Aruba 2 yrs ago. From what I have heard and read, Grand Cayman is beautiful...but it might be more expensive than Aruba. One factor you may want to consider in your decision, though, is that September is hurricane season in the Caribbean. Aruba is not in the hurricane belt and has perfect weather all year. Good luck and have fun whatever you decide!

Other than the fact that Aruba is out of the hurricane belt..Grand Cayman is beautiful but more expensive with really not much else to do but hang out. I would opt for Aruba not only for the weather but for all the activities and wonderful restaurants.

Try this site for great rates to Aruba:

http://www.travelunlimited.com

Congratulations! You have narrowed your choices down to two of my favorites. I have been to Cayman 4 times and Aruba only once, but we enjoyed both tremendously. We rented a car at both places, so got a good flavor of things to do and places to go. Both have beautiful beaches, shopping and good restaurants. The people are friendly on both islands and crime isn't a problem with either one. The biggest difference, in my opinion, is whether or not you are a true "water" person or not. If you like to dive and snorkel, then the Caymans is a definite first choice. There are many neat locations to do this there. Aruba had good snorkeling, but nothing compares to the Caymans as far as that is concerned. If you are looking for more nightlife and things to do, then I would suggest Aruba. They have more dancing, casinos, etc. Cayman is more layed back at night. Have fun at either place.

Thank you for the responses. I have one other question about Aruba. I keep hearing that Aruba is very windy. I like to read on the beach but I wouldn't enjoy sand being blown on me while I was reading. Is the wind a problem on the beach?
I went to Aruba three years ago in September and found that it was just a pleasant breeze. I had been warned by people about the wind but I didn't find it a problem. Perhaps it's worse at some times than others.
Mark: I went to Aruba last year and enjoyed it immensely. I wouldn't worry about the sand blowing on you though. The constant trade winds help make the Aruba heat more confortable -- it's not a type of wind that will make you uncomfortable on the beach.
