Grand Cayman Accomodations
I am currently planning a vacation to Grand Cayman during the April time frame. My husband and I are traveling with our 18 yr. old and our five yr. old. I'm trying to assess what would be a good activity-based hotel with all the amenities to keep everyone interested w/o having a continuous party going on all day. I would like to hear any recommendations on good resorts with this criteria that won't be extremely expenses. I've had the Holiday Inn & the Marriott recommended so far, so I'd like to hear anything add'l about these also.
Thank you.
Thank you.

We've been to the Treasure Island Resort twice already and found it to be very comfortable. The first time it was just my husband and myself. It is a big resort but also quaint. The two restaurants are ample and they have two pools, a swim up bar and a hot tub. The second time we went we had our teenage son and his cousin and they had a great time. They especially liked the fact that they could walk to the Taco Bell and go off on their own. The island is safe. You can also walk to Georgetown if you go for that sort of stuff. It's about 30 minutes on foot, maybe 1-1/2 miles. They also have entertainment in their open air lobby and put out a free buffet on Saturday nights. All four of you would fit right in. Have fun. Fran

My husband and I, and our three teens stayed at the Victoria House . It is right on the beach , not crowded and had a complete kitchen. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We rented a car to sight see, but spent most of the time snorkelling. We stopped at the Holiday Inn for a drink at their beach bar, and my kids commented on how fun it would have been to stay there. Alot of music, people, and action. Can't please everyone.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Grand Cayman in 95 and 96 and am planning a trip for this March. The hotel rooms are nice although the economy rooms actually do face the parking lot, so I would avoid them. The beach is the best along Seven Mile Beach. I considdered staying at both the Marriott(then Raddison) and the Treasure Island but the beach is very rocky and filled with sharp coral even in the shallow water. Another advantages to the Holiday Inn is a great breakfast buffet for only $10US. It may not seem it, but it's a bargain! Packages through Cayman Express (www.caymanexpress.com) include breakfast. And last but not least is the Barefoot Man who plays 5 nights a week and there's also Coconuts Comedy club. I've heard a rumor that the Holiday Inn may be sold to the Ritz Carlton but if so it won't happen until May 98. Maybe someone out there knows if there's any truth to it.
