Honeymoon- Excellence Punta Cana or Iberostar Grand Bavaro?

My fiance and I are trying to book our honeymoon to Punta Cana, DR in April. I have read both good and bad reviews on trip advisor about both. It seems as though you may get more perks as honeymooners at Excellence? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Excellence puntacana.com more romantic intimate for me.

bookit.com and cheapcaribbean.com will have accurate reviews

TripAdvertizer rankings reviews VERY suspect profit driven.

Check poster profiles carefully MANY no profile touts shills

and clueless newbie "grudge" posts so I believe only

established posters also do not believe the "destination

experts" many are touts/agents/wolves in sheepsxlothing.

Caveat Emptor!(and happy planning)

The IB Grand Bavaro is part of a huge complex although the Grand is off limits to guests of the rest of the complex. There are other resorts in the area of the IB so the beach can get busy.
Excellence is a longer ride from the airport and is a smaller resort. There are not many other resorts near it so the beach is not crowded.
Both are wonderful resorts. We prefer the smaller more intimate atmosphere at Excellence. Also...at the IB you need to make reservations for dinner. At Excellence you just show up when you want to eat.

qwovadis ,
As a "Destination Expert" on TA, I resent your comment. We DE's are just regular old posters who have been asked to help our fellow travelers. We get NO perks for doing this.

topping this as we are looking at booking Excellence for the first week of Sept for our anniversary. Are we going to be missing out on anything being far away from other resorts? I'm just looking for a nice relaxing week on the beach with some good food and drinks and no kids. Thoughts?
