We were having a family diner last night and my daughter had mentioned her friends renting a boat in the British virgin islands.

They had a great time. Sounded like food and drink was included.

I was intrigued with the idea and am looking for the best way to get to the virgin islands.

I see some flights to STT, and EIS, but am a little confused about the best way to get there.

How do most people get there?

Any help is appreciated.

The “best way” can vary greatly and will depend on where you are flying from, time of year, which island in the BVI’s is your final destination and you budget. This time of year American Airlines has a Montaigne from Miami to Tortola (EIS). If flying from other US international gateway airports you can fly into San Juan and take an island hopper flight to the BVI’s or fly into St. Thomas than take and island hopper flight, ferry or private water taxi to the BVI’s.

I see where autocorrect changed a significant word in my initial reply. The second sentence should read that American Airlines “has a non-stop flight from Miami to Tortola”.

I've only ever flown into St Thomas.

I know there are direct flights from Atlanta, Charlotte, Boston, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and im sure there are others as well.

We’re in the BVIs now. We flew Miami to EIS which is on Beef Island, part of Tortola. We’re in a villa but many of those boats go out of Tortola. When we’ve traveled to St John, in the past, we flew from Atlanta to St Thomas STT. Many people then take one of two ferries from there to St John. We were in a group so we arranged a water taxi to take us over.

Most people get to the BVI by flying into EIS on smaller, more expensive planes, taking a ferry which is cheaper but can involve waiting or missed connections, or using a private water taxi like Seahorse, which is more costly but offers full-service convenience. I flew into STT and took Seahorse Water Taxi, and it made getting to the islands easy and hassle-free.

When I visited the Virgin Islands, I wanted to make the most of my time, so I looked for the easiest way to get there. Some friends recommended flying into EIS, but I heard the small planes can be pricey and a bit stressful. I considered the ferry, but I didn’t want to risk long waits or missing a connection. In the end, I went with Seahorse Water Taxi from St. Thomas, and it was a great choice, Amy helped with everything, the ride was comfortable, and I got to the islands without any hassle. Once there, I spent the day hopping between beaches, exploring The Baths, and just enjoying the islands at my own pace.
