First Timers
My girlfriend and I are going to the Bahamas end of July / start of August. We're staying at the Holiday Inn Junkanoo on Cable Beach (Anyone been there ? Any Feedback ?). We chose a more moderately priced hotel in order to spend more time doing fun things. Aside from the hotel and flight cost, how much money should we expect to spend per day for the both of us on average ? this includes meals and the "fun things" (i.e scuba diving, sight seeing, excursions to some cays, etc...). Any advice would greatly be appreciated. By the way, we spent approximately $1400 (for two) on both the hotel and flight including transfers, and taxes (is that a good price ?)

Thanks again for any feedback

The Holiday Junkanoo is NOT ON THE BEACH. This MOTEL is in town across the street from a junk yard!! Go there only if you know what you are buying. I don't think you got a great price. Spent a little more and go all inclusive, it will amaze you how expensive food and entertainment is in Nassau.

Hard to evaluate the price without knowing number of nights and city of origin. I've seen several negative reports on Hol. Inn Junkanoo, which is not on Cable Beach, but it's hard to find anything else for that price in a good location. Maybe Comfort Suites on Paradise Island?
Two people might typically spend about $100/day on meals and $100/day on the other stuff - excursions etc. You can certainly cut down the meal cost if you eat in inexpensive places.
No, dont stay home there are alot of reasonable hotel along cable beach. I just returned from one and in May. We spent about $1400 on our hotel and air fair also. We stayed at the Nassua Beach hotel,it was ok but you can stay at the Crystal Palace and it is very nice and around the same price range or a number of others on cable beach. Do more cking if you need help email me.

I forgot to mention the length of stay, which will be 7 nights. My attitude towards the hotel was that it's only going to be a place to sleep at night, so there was no point in splurging in that area. Is that place really that bad !!?!?

I think it depends on where you are comming from. If the flight part is expensive than the package deal is ok, but no you did not get a great price and the Holiday Inn is no where near Cable Beach. It is downtown and across the street from a very small beach. I would not suggest staying there, since there are other much nicer places to stay.

You might look into a few other package deals from some other travel agents, like Liberty Travel (website www.libertytravel.com) and see if you can get a better price on other hotels.

By the way today is Independence Day for the Bahamas. Happy July 10th to the Bahamas.

tweedy
