Ferry Between St. Martin & St. Barts

Can anyone give me an idea of the schedule for the ferry between St. Martin & St. Barts? Cost, how often, etc. It must be cheaper than flying right? Thanks.

The ferry round trip will cost you around $50 U.S.

MV Voyager departs daily from the waterfront in Marigot,St. Martin, bound for Gustavia, at 9:00 AM and at 6:15 PM. [590] (0)590 27 54 10 for reservations.

Oyster Line departs daily except Mondays from Oyster Pond, Dutch St. Maarten, for Gustavia, at 8:30 AM and at 4 PM. [590] (0)590 87 46 13 for reservations.

There is also a hight speed ferry named The Edge that comes to Gustavia once a day from Tuesday till Saturday. It leaves from Pelican Marina in Dutch St. Maarten at 9 AM. [599] 544 26 40 for info and reservations.

I took the ferry once and never again. Do a search on this board for opinions on this subject.

Gayle: Thanks for all the info. I did as you suggested, but must be putting in the wrong words. Can't seem to find any discussions on the subject. I'm assuming that you had a bad experience from your post. Could you elaborate? I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Gayle: Thanks a lot for the topper! As long as the flights are plentiful, we'll probably go that route. Haven't begun to make arrangements yet, and not 100% sure it will be St. Bart but it's on our top ten. Not sure what time we'll get into St. Martin if we do decide on that destination. I did find some info on the flights by looking back in the Fodor's achives. If I may, I might call on you for some insight into St. Barts with regard to hotels, etc. Thanks again for taking the time to top the posts.

Gayle: Thank you. I'll keep your e-mail address and call on you if we end up going to St. Barths. Just curious, since you've been going for 16 years, you must have a favorite place to stay. Where do you settle in for a week?

First choice is always a villa rental. This May we bought a trip from luxurylink.com for an amazing deal at Isle de France, one of our favorite properties. Other faves are Eden Rock and Le Toiny. But usually twice a year we rent a villa.
