We are leaving for the Caribbean in two weeks. My wife and two teenage boys have reservations for the Mariott on St. Kitts. After reading the reviews, I'm about to cancell the trip. Anyone have any suggestions on where we could go that's CLEAN and where my active boys can enjoy themselves while my wife and I can appreciate the view and maybe get a good meal. It does not have to be St. Kitts since we are flying from NYC to San Jan and can fly anywhere from there.

Aruba has a Marriott that is very nice and there is lots of action on the beach right in front of the hotel. There are several pools too. The activities are banana boating, tubing, snorkel trips, parasailing, etc...The restaurants are very good all over the island. We enjoyed our vacation there very much.

All the reviews that I have read about the Marriott and St. Kitts have been very positive. I woul dlike to go with my family in 2007. Have you read: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...and_Nevis.html
The resort has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 which is hard to get on tripadvisor. The Marriott is new and not "worn" as others have complained about more established resorts in the Caribbean. I get the sense that the island has not been fully discovered and developed and I'd like to get there before it is.
As far as food is concerned, a few meals at the Marriott would be fine for convenience but as in many resorts you'll have better luck off the resort. There are many suggestions on tripadvisor regarding where to eat. Good luck! I wish we were going away in two weeks.
We're going to St. John this spring but

I'm wondering what made you want to cancel your reservation at the St. Kitts Marriott. We've also been considering a vacation to St. Kitts or Nevis and I've read mostly positive reviews of the Marriott. Indeed, in looking at tripadvisor.com, I see that there have been 16 reviews of the St. Kitts Marriott posted this year and, of these 16 reviews, 11 have given it five stars (or I guess it's circles on tripadvisor) and the other five have given it 4 stars. That's pretty impressive by any measure, but especially for a large hotel like Marriott where you'll always find some complaints. Based on these reviews, I wouldn't be so quick to change my vacation plans. As far as views and good meals are concerned, St. Kitts can certainly hold its own with most of the other Caribbean islands.

Hi JMG,
Where did you read these reviews? All of the reviews I've read in the past year have been quite positive.
Other comments from people who have stayed there also are complimentary.
We don't stay in big resorts when visiting St. Kitts/Nevis, but if large hotels were what we liked, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Marriott.
