Eleuthera Island Info Please

Can anyone offer information on how Eleuthera Island beaches have recovered from hurricane damage, as well as hotel information? Considering a trip there in early November.

Thanks,

Diane

Diane, the beaches on Eleuthera recovered nicely from the last storm. The ocean is pretty amazing there, as it takes the sand away and then brings it back. The beaches on Eleuthera will be some of the most amazing you will ever see.

There are several nice places to stay on island or you can rent a house. There isn't alot to "do" on island other than see some of the sites, relax, and of course the amazing beaches.

Try the www.where2stay.com board for info and pictures on several hotels on island and you also might check out Harbour Island which is off the north coast of Eleuthera and has a bit more to do and several good restaurants and nice places to stay.

Please let me know if you need any more info.

tweedy

Dear Diane, There is more to Eleuthera than most know about, plenty of Caves, ocean holes and many beaches waiting to be explored on this one hundred mile long island. Tarpum Bay is the choice settlement to stay in and you can find more info about Cartwright's Ocean Front Cottages on www.onlinevacation.com and click Eleuthera Listings. November Weather can be tricky but usually the avg temps are in the 80's and the water still warm enough for swimming. Most food markets carry most food items but you can bring along your own meats and sncaks to help save on grocery as items are more expensive on the island, example milk is 7-8 dollars per gallon. If you have any other questions about the Island of Eleuthera, feel free to email us, Talk with you soon,,,,Doug C

My fiance and I have been to Harbour Island with our small kids. We stayed at the Pink Sands which is an Island Outpost hotel and we loved it! The beach was gorgeous - clear blue waters and very fine powdery sand. We were there January 2 and the weather was very mild. We had come over to Harbour Island from a week long stay in Nassau and were looking for something more cosy and intimate - we found it! However, we did not get a chance to do much on the island. It rained pretty heavy our second morning there and we decided not to extend our trip another week and went home instead. In my opinion, the island was beautiful and most places have recovered nicely from the past damage. We are definitely planning a trip back to Harbour Island/Eleuthera for a longer stay. We would like to go back to the Pink Sands in particular: the food and the staff was wonderful and the property is small which makes it easy not to bump into too many other vacationers too often. Not to mention they are a beachfront property. Visit them at http://www.islandoutpost.com/PinkSands/. Also check out http://www.harbourislandlanding.com/.
