Electrical Outlets in St. Lucia

We are leaving the USA for St. Lucia & we're wondering if our appliances (hair dryer, etc.) will be compatible with the outlets in St. Lucia. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

No, you will need an adaptor. If you choose to buy one, be careful and do some research on the different kinds of adaptors (many at local hardware stores). Ours didn’t fit and the outlet ultimately fried our friends’. Apparently the hotel we stayed at (Wyndham M.B.) had them for the asking but we never used them. One note in point: the hairdryers in the rooms were terrible – totally ineffective.

We stayed at Ladera and they supplied converters so we were able to use our hairdryer.

You may buy a converter that will come with several adapters at any luggage store, most hardware, and many large chain retailers like Target, Wal-Mart, etc. Make sure to get the one that is compatible with 1600 watts cycling electricity. I travel to St. Lucia often and other countries with 220-240v electrical outlets, and this has always worked.

I just returned from St. Lucia on Monday and while it is a good idea to bring a converter, both the Hyatt and the Hilton could supply one if needed.

I used a hairdryer at the Hilton and while small, it was very fast and effective (I have really looong hair) so it isn't necessary to bring a dryer to that hotel.
