Help! Six of us, three couples, are hoping to spend 3 nights near El Yunque in mid-February. The place we thought would be ideal, Villa Sierra, is already booked. We would really like for each couple to have its own bathroom and some cooking facilities and some comfort--not interested in too rustic. We would like to have more of a "rainforest" flavor to our accommodations and would like to stay under $150/night. Is this impossible?

This place is actually on the backside of the rainforest (from OSJ) but well worth the trek. There is a shared kitchen for the entire house & you'll want to bring food w/you (it is a good hour in & out).www.casacubuy.com She will also cook dinner if there is enough people (& I think 6 fits the bill) but check ahead of time so she can prepare. From our room you could see 3 waterfalls.

I am here at Casa Cubay right now. It is amazing. It was only a half hour drive or so from the main road. We just finished 2 nights on Culebra and it is such a change of environment from the island/ocean to the rain forest. Our room is $125 night, private shower, queen size bed. There is a kitchen with an honor system and you can buy drinks, frozen foods to microwave, etc. People do bring their own. Although they are full tonight I guess enough people didn't want to have dinner here tonight so they didn't prepare it. The rate includes breakfast.

Our room look right out into a valley of sorts facing three waterfalls plan on walking to them tomorrow, one has a nice pool for swimming). The sounds of the falls and now that it is nighttime the sounds of the coquis are everywhere. It is a tree frog and at dark they make loud chirping sounds. Our room has sliding glass doors with a deck and we were told there are no mosquitoes so we plan to sleep with the doors open.

I will be able to report more when my trip is over. It is nothing fancy, but is clean and is an eco lodge (throwing toilet tissue in a basket, not the toilet).

We also had someone come & give us a massage while staying there, up on the top deck/porch/balcony (@ Casa Cubuy). That was pretty horrible. Check w/the Innkeeper.
