Couple Resort - Negril

Do the rooms have safe's in them?

Also, any reason this would not be a good first all inclusive experience for us?

We stayed next door to Couples Negril - at Grand Lido Negril, last week.

We thought it looked great. LOVED their pool. Rafts on all the beach chairs. I'd go there for sure....

I stayed at the Grand Lido several years ago and it was lovely. The rooms did have safes in them. Even though we had a room with a garden view, I thought the room and view was great.

That was our only time staying at an all inclusive resort and I would rate the overall experience as fair. My husband was disillusioned that the only beer offered was Red Stripe and I didn't care for the wines or champagne they offered. Perhaps I should not have had high expectations in this area for an all inclusive package.

The breakfast buffet was very good and I would recommend making as many reservations as possible for one of their four restaurants called Piacere. Cafe Lido was not bad but La Pasta was not so good.

I have stayed at Swept Away - now a Couples and they have safes. It was my first AI experience and it was an excellent one. I have been to seveal other AIs and there were none I liked any better - largely because the beach is wonderful there and we were treated extremely well by the staff. I never do AI any more but I would recommend SA to anyone who wanted that experience.

this is from a thread I started last week after returning from couples Negril.. It was an amazing trip!

Message: What a trip! I am now unfortunately back at work, with nothing but a good tan and a slight lack of short term memory to show for it.

Jamaica rocked! It was absolutely beautiful. the food was extraordinary... Conch soup, Jerk Chicken, smoked marlin, fresh mango and papaya, blended drinks for breakfast, red stripe all day long. I gained about 10 pounds in a week.

The people were the coolest though. I've never met so many happy locals. They are such a musical people too. They're constantly walking around singing, and will occasionally start singing in the middle of a conversation with you

Things are sooooo laid back there (which makes sense since it's pretty hot, you don't want to exert yourself) Reggae music all day and night and I didn't come close to getting tired of it.

The wait staff were incredible. Incredibly accomodating without acting rushed (I would feel horrible if the laid back Jamaicans had to change their personalities to accomodate our fast-paced lifestyles).

The beach and swimming area was absolutely beautiful. The landscaping and ponds exquisite. Plenty of activities.. not too crowded. An incredible time, I can't wait to go back.

The resort seemed to take the finest aspects of an all-inclusive and package it into a perfect fit. Plenty of activities, quiet enough to get a great night's sleep and have relaxing days... lively enough to party it up at night.

I was worried about going because I had heard so many good things about it from people here.. I felt I was going to be expecting too much.

I was wrong. Couples Negril completely exceeded all of my expectations.

Message: Watersports- went waterskiing, wakeboarding, hobiecat sailing, snorkeling and windsurfing... also took the catamaran cruise for cliff diving.

There was never a wait for the sailing and and windsurfing... about a 5 minute wait for wakeboarding. snorkeling and the catamaran cruise had to be reserved a day in advance.

we took a boat trip down the coast for a shopping trip, pretty fun.. first stop at an outside craft market, second stop in downtown negril at gift stores.

The food at the main restaurant was excellent.. which was a big surprise. They had a buffet monday night which was simply the best buffet I have ever had, The barbequed pork ribs were off the charts!

The rooms were nice, ceiling fans and ac, a cable television tucked away if you wanted it/ Room service for continental breakfast. deep bathtub.

We had ocean view rooms.. on the second floor about 100 feet from the beach.. Fair sized balcony. However next time we might just get the gardenview rooms. There is so much vegetation around the resort that there are no truly clear ocean views. It didn't matter much because we spent so little time in the room in the first place.

The place was not busy at all. Enough of a crowd for some nice festivities at night, but there were always plenty of beach chairs, hammocks and floats available. Never a long wait for a drink, and an excellent premium liquor selection.
