Couple planninf trip T&C, STJ, or ??
Hello!
My boyfriend and I (25yo)are trying to plan an amazing trip. We could really use some advice!
T&C & STJ got some great reviews..please let me know if anyone has any suggestions!
What we like:
-beautiful beaches
-beautiful lush scenic views
-romantic hammocks & beautiful hotel grounds
-snorkeling & maybe horse back riding
-beautiful/exotic once in a lifetime -locations (The baths at VG looked intriguing)
-we are into health food & working out in a gym in the am
Details are flexible, we can go for a few days up to 8 days, anytime of yr, budget is flexible- we want to be amazed but we dont want to go somewhere expensive and snobby (price doesn't matter just the over all trip). We don't do the nightlife thing, we are more into the daytime activities. I don't think we would be very good with renting a car or a boat, so easily accessible places are best.
Our background:
Belize (Jaguar Reef- just ok, beaches weren't that nice but adventures were great) Atlantis/Bahamas 4xs(Great beach but way to commercialized)
Sans Souci in Jamaica (I loved it, but beaches werent that nice)
Guancaste Costa Rica 2x's(just ok) Cancun 2x's (just ok)
Puerto Rico (just ok)

For what you seek, I highly recommend Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda. You can actually hop around to St. John (or split the trip Little Dix Bay and Caneel Bay with transfer included) or hop to Tortola and Jost Van Dyke.
The scenary is gorgeous.
Beaches are gorgeous.
Romantic, with hammocks, beautiful grounds.
snorkeling is great, and boat trips for snorkeling even better.
Not sure about horseback riding, but too hilly, so I would say no.
The Baths is spectacular.
All the islands in Caribbean have plenty of choices to accomadate food choices.
Don't know about gyms, I use the beach and ocean! ;-)
T&C, while a spectacular beach and better restaurants, great snorkeling, gyms, hammocks, beautiful grounds, and great horseback riding; it really doesn't have the scenic views, or an exotic feel to it.

Hi we were in T&C this past Sept and there was so much construction going on around Grace Bay that it ruined it for me. The beach itself is beautiful though. Maybe on the other side of the island you'd have more luck? We stayed at Royal West Indies and I could hear loud banging going on from my balcony the entire time, contrary to what the hotel and condo owner told me. You might wanna check VRBO for options in your dest.

If you want to be directly on the beach, definitely Caneel over Gallows. Gallows is great (I stayed there). We loved Gallows because we could walk to town, The views are amazing, pretty good snorkeling right there, and the units were comfortable. Caneel sits on some gorgeous beaches, but not walkable to town. We didn't mind driving to the beaches from Gallows as driving to, and exploring different beaches is really what STJ is about.
Caneel is also very pricey for the accomodations, it's definitely not the Ritz. You pay for the location.

I will look into Little Dix Bay!
