Costa Rica or Dominica?

A week in the summer for a family of 4 with 2 teens. Anyone have a preference? Looking for lots of activity...2 days at most beach-sitting.

P.S. I realize this question actually crosses 2 forums...Caribbean and Latin America. Best I could do.

Neither destination is really a good beach-sitting destination, but the beaches are still much better in Costa Rica (depending on where you go) than in Dominica. Lots of activities in each, but because Costa Rica is so much larger and more varied, there are many more kinds of activities there. It's also usually cheaper to fly to Costa Rica.

We've been to Costa Rica 4x, and Dominica is very high on our list.

I'd say Costa Rica....if your looking for "soft adventure", they have it. Waterfall climbing, canopy tours, zip-lines, hiking, ATV'ing, horsebackriding, surf lessons.....etc.

iF YOU ARE A BIT ADVENTUROUS AND WOULD DO ZIP LIME AND CANAOPY TRAM THEN I THINK COSTA RICA HANDS DOWN. IF YOU WANT SNORKELING NEITHER IS GREAT BUT DOMONICA IS MUCH BETTER.

We've been in October, April, December(at Christmas), and early November.

Weather was "basically" the same at all times. In the afternoon it could shower for a few minutes, then the sun comes out again.

But.....sometimes the "rainy" season really means the "rainy" season , you just never know. There are a few regulars here who always go in June or July & keep returning year after year, so that's a good sign.

And actually, the clods are sometimes a blessing, it gets HOT!!
