Cinnamon Bay - Rent a Car?
We are a group of 11 (5 adults, 6 kids ages 2-10). We will be staying at Cinnamon Bay campground in Feb. for 2 weeks.
Would you recommend:
- each family renting their own jeep
- renting one jeep (to share)
*or* is it easy to explore the island using taxi's, buses and boats?
Because there will be so many young kids we will spend a good amount of time just hanging around Cinnamon Bay but we would also like to do a bit of exploring to:
- Sugar Mills
- Salt Pond Beach
- Trunk Bay
- Hawksnest
- Watermelon Cay
- Leinster Bay
- Maho Bay
- a few trips into town
Thanks!

I would recommend renting a car.. to give you the utmost flexibility in exploring the island. There is a lot to see. 2 vehicles would give your group the option to pursue different interests on any given day. However, you may want to consider renting a "safari" bus - (looks like an island taxi - A modified pickup truck with benches in the back and a canopy on top) to hold your entire group. Check with the car rental agent. Have a great time!

With group that size I would recommend at least two rental 'jeeps' to give some flexiblitly. St. John is a fantastic island to explore. Taxis aren't common in areas outside the north shore and I don't believe the buses are that frequent. I'd add Little Lameshur to your list.

Thanks for the great suggestions!
Mewmon - the safari bus sounds like a great idea! I didn't know such things existed on St. John. Any tips on where to rent one?
Roberto - Thanks for the Little Lameshur tip. I have added it to my list!

Taxi's for that many will lead to huge costs. Rent two vehicles. Plan to use extra caution on most of the roads and be aware to stay to the left. Take provisions with you, as I found getting back into Cruz Bay from Cinnamon particularly after dusk was a hassle. I recommend you visit Trunk Bay in the morning to avoid the cruise ship crowd and don't miss Waterlemon Cay.
