I am currently in a bind...I am trying to book my honeymoon and I am having the hardest time. I want a luxury romantic beach to spend my honeymoon week at and all I am finding is either it is 1000.00 a night( yes, I am serious ) and up or booked completely. I originally wanted to go to Hawaii but I heard the weather is terrible in Decmeber and January..Is that true???
Also, I called Cap Jaluca, St. Barts, Nevis Four Season, all the Ritz's in the Carib and on and on and all were booked.....ekkkk..help.
SOme one suggested Bora Bora but ohhh it is afull day of flying..not thrilled about that either.
Can anyone make a suggestion on ay of the above rambling I have posted?
I would greatly appreciate your advise. Thanks

For great weather in December and January you'll have to choose between the Caribbean (Not Bahamas-Too Cold), California, Mexico, Polynesian Islands or Greek Islands. Did you check out the Hilton Hotels & Resorts Worldwide? Good luck and Congratulations!

How about Thailand? Long trip for sure but good prices and some wonderful beaches. Go to luxurylink.com for suggestions and ideas for other luxury properties you may not have tried or called but you are picking a very heavily booked time where repeaters book for years in advance.

A few recommendations--info at Fodors destination guides online--
Le Meridien Hotel Cancun (great spa), Delano Hotel South Miami Beach,
Super Clubs Grand Lido Sans Souci Jamaica-get pampered at the spa with lush surroundings.
We went to Hawaii at Christmas and it was very nice but the day after we returned it rained with an accumulation of 21"!! A trip there would just be luck. For Oahu for things to do in case of rain--Hilton Hawaiian Village or Royal Hawaiian (we stayed here, very nice). Also took a one day trip to Maui and toured the volcano and island. Rent a car and drive around island.
If you decide not to go to an island then Paris is one of the most romantic places in the world-hot or cold-my favorite city.
We really like Antigua--been there twice--Galley Bay is tahitian style with an exotic pool--very expensive.
Barbados-Cobblers Cove Hotel is very romantic.

Anyone who says Hawaii has "bad" weather in December and January is an idiot. There are parts of the Big Island that never get rain (Kona Coast) and Southern Kauai and Maui are great at that time of year. If you can't find space in the Caribbean, Hawaii is great.

Antigua: Jumby Bay, first choice (through Rosewood) and Curtain Bluff, second.
Barbados, Cobbler's Cove: great accomodations, small not wonderful beach, older very British guests predominate. Royal Pavilion might work
British Virgins: Biras Creek, Peter Island, Guana Island, low key Cooper Island

Nikki,
Where are you getting your info from? Susan's absolutely correct about the Greek isles being too cold in December. Also, Hiltons don't offer that much in luxury.
I like Anne's suggestion with CuisinArt. Also try Malliouhana(Anguilla), Guanahani(St. Barts), Jumby Bay, Peter Island, Little Dix Bay (Virgin Gorda), Point Grace (Turks&Caicos). Good luck.

Exactly which week are you going? It will be PACKED from December 21 through January 4 AND all the prices are jacked up to the highest of the year. Could you consider waiting until early February for the actual honeymoon? The weather, availability, and prices will be so much better! You would have many more options. Perhaps a couple nights away at a local fancy hotel right after the wedding could hold you until the REAL honeymoon.

Thank you all for everything...
CAri, I called all the hotels that you mentioned and they are all booked or have 14 night minimums with prices over 1,200 a night...thank you though the suggested hotels were exactly what I wanted. I only hoped that they were available. So now I am posed with the only choices I see avaiable ..one is a windstar cruise around the carribean(if that is avaiable) or Bora Bora etc...
Do you reccomend either of them????
Also, the idea to wait till Feb. is not looking to bad either
This honeymoon planning is so hard that christmas week.
Thanks again

Windstar is one of the better cruise lines, from what I understand. Have you both been cruising before? I've only been once, and it was enought for me. There are so many variables in cruising, and if you're not liking something, there's not a whole lot to be done about it. That said, many people feel it is THE only way to travel, so it is something everybody has to try at least once. But I wouldn't risk a "first time" for my Honeymoon. (Hmmm.... that sounded odd!)
If you do go in February, remember that many northern states have school vacations the last two weeks of the month. Come home by Valentine's Day and you'll be fine! As for the islands, I think you are so on the right track with St. Bart, Anguilla, and Nevis.
I hate to sound ignorant, but I think Bora Bora is a bit ambitious for a honeymoon. You'll be exhausted enough from the wedding, the LONG trip might do you in!
Don't know what you mean when you say St. Bart's is booked. Have you looked into Le Toiny or better yet, a villa in St. Bart's. Go through Wimco or St. Barth Properties. Both have all of their villas/hotels (with prices) listed on their websites. Look into getting a 2-4 bedroom villa where you can rent just one of the bedrooms at a fraction of the cost. Both Wimco and SBP offer that option.

I can't think of a better spot than St. Bart's for a honeymoon.
