Childcare at Atlantis
Hi. I am staying at the Atlantis in July with my husband and 2 children (ages 4
and 5). I know they have a kids camp and also offer in-room childcare. Does
anyone have experience with either of these? I am nervous about using the in-
room childcare, but I will be celebrating my 10 year anniversary while there and
it does sound tempting. Thanks!

I was wondering about child care as well. We will be going to Atlantis in July, with our 10 year old son. It would be nice if we could have some time alone. Does anyone know if their is a kids camp? We would like to have a dinner, or two on our own.

I don't have children, so I didn't use it. I saw signs for it and remember thinking that the price was a little steep. Go to www.atlantis.com

In-room babysitting is available for $12 an hour, and the Discovery Channel Camp is available the following times:
9-12 $30
1-5 $40
6-10 $45
9-10 $120
1-10 $85
When in July are you going? I will be there the first week and will be glad to report my experience.

W're not planning on going until next winter, so I will be in luck if you both could post after your July trips. I have an 11 year-old son, and am afraid the program will be too young for him. Is it basically babysitting - or fun/educational for older boys? I was thinking of one afternoon session, more for his sake than for ours. I also have a 13 year-old girl, and am afraid to let her go off alone to the teen center. I think I'll make another post to see if that is well-supervised! Hope you both have a great trip. I can't wait til next year!

I think it would be fine for your 12-year old. It is my understanding that some of the activities are specifically for older children, such as the Science Outpost and Technology Lab. If you haven't yet, look at the Atlantis web site (www.atlantis.com) and 1) select Enter Site, 2) choose Explore the Winder, 3) select Activities and then Discovery Channel Camp, and 4) look at the different areas.
As for the teen program, I have seen positive posts on it on other sites, but I have no personal knowledge about it. Let me know if I can find out anything specific for you while we are down there.

Hi again Mango & CJ!
That was great info from "Just Back!" When you "Fodorites" are there with your families, could you ask if there are sharks, stingrays, and other dangerous sea creatures joining the humans in the snorkeling lagoon next to the Coral Tower? I'd appreciate any first-hand information you can add!
