Charters from Coral Bay, St. John
As a turning-of-50 celebration, my husband and I and 4 other couples are renting a villa on St. John in November. We will be closer to Coral Bay than Cruz Bay, and are looking forward to returning to Skinny Legs. Can't beat the cheeseburgers, beer, and atmosphere there!
We also want to take a day snorkel trip to Virgin Gorda. Does anyone know of any charter companies that we could contact? I know there are many leaving from Cruz Bay, but if we could get something from Coral Bay, that would be nice.
Thanks.

If you don't get an answer on Fodors try posting a message at USVI On-Line or search the archives there. Someone asked a similar question recently. Not sure about going to Virgin Gorda.

We're renting through Caribbean Villas and Resorts and the property is Ixora. We've never stayed at this particular property before, but we've rented from this company the last two times we've visited St. John and these folks can't be beat for price and service. We've stayed at Cruz Views and Virgin Seabreeze.

Check this out. Could be fun. The boat is beautiful. Looks like the boat from Gilligan's Island!

srwolf, it IS wonderful, and everything you could want is waiting for you -- linens, beach towels, and all the comforts you could ask for. We enjoy being able to cook several meals at night after a full day out on/in the water. There is a great market near the bakery in Cruz Bay (cannot remember the name; my memory is terrible), but last time we were there, we bought some of the best steaks and seafood we have ever had and cooked it on the gas grill there at the villa. The makings of the meals weren't cheap, but were a lot cheaper than eating out and after a bottle or three of good wine and the sunset -- ah . . . there is simply nothing better.
