In answer to your question. Charela Inn is an excellent choice. You may visit their site at www.charela.com

We liked Xtabi. Ask for a cottage on the cliffs (not by the pool which is across the street in the gardens). Cottages number 1 and 3 have kitchenettes. The restaurant there was good but pricey. Rock House just down the road was my first choice of places to stay, but they were booked. We did eat dinner there one night - great food with reasonable prices.

We very much enjoyed Blue Cave Castle on the cliffs last January, and we loved Nirvana on the beach two weeks ago.

www.bluecavecastle.com

www.maherconsulting.com/negril (BCC trip report)

www.nirvananegril.com (haven't written the report yet but pictures are at http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...974&a=10262087

Both are small, intimate, mellow places - BCC is cheaper and has a killer view and great sea access with snorkeling, Nirvana was better for us with our kids, right on the beach.
<BR

We split our vacation at Negril last May, 4 nights on the beach at Whistling Bird and 4 nights at Rockhouse on the cliffs. A couple of years ago we spent a week at Charela Inn. We found ourselves heading back to Charela FOUR times for dinner! We'll probably stay there next time again, it is hard to beat for location, lovely rooms, and extraordinary service. We'd also go back to Rockhouse -- snorkeling in their coves was pretty good, and their restaurant was also excellent. Think I'd love Tensing Pen on the cliffs as well -- no restaurant there, but sometimes they cook for their guests. They had an awesome setting and while ALL the gardens in Negril are pretty gorgeous, these are a cut above. Very wild and tropical (but obviously they take a lot of work!). Loved the people (especially Andrea, Bim and Colin) at Whistling Bird. The cottages were cute and spick and span, and the grounds and beach delightful. But I do think Charela Inn is the classiest place in Negril. I don't do all-inclusive, but I'd probably be tempted to take Charela's meal plan.
