I have searched for your St. John trip report with no avail. Could you email it to me or help me locate it?
After Disney in 2 weeks and Grand Cayman in June, we are thinking STJ maight be our next trip...and I love your reports.
Also looking forward to hearing about your trip in March!
Thanks!

Kristen: Hi there. Well that trip was a long time ago (about 5 years). I was just beginning to learn to post here and that trip report is nothing like the ones I do now. I also have no pics online since we bought our digital camera AFTER that trip. You can look at it, but honestly I don't think it will be helpful. There are many more trip reports here that are way better (and more recent) than mine.
Anyway, to tie me over until the next trip (5 weeks to go - woo hoo!), I finally created our own travel web site. It was frustating at first but fun at the end. I'm really happy with it. The text of the St. Johhn report is there (no pics, though).

Knowing the type of islands you like, I think you will love St. John. I hope you do go there. Happy planning! And have fun at Disney and in GC!
Virginia: Thanks but that's Bill's report. A great one though!

Caribtraveler,
I love your website; thanks for all your hard work and sharing the link! As much as I always enjoy your trip reports, the website is even better because you can see all the pictures at once without having to click separate links for each one. Thanks!

oops. apologies to all for the misquote.
caribtraveler your page is wonderful. i've put it in my favorites for future travel research. our next is to grand cayman, although i see it was not your favorite island. think the day trip to little cayman looks like a good thing for us.

Hi mymoosie...I think this question was intended for me? Either way, I'll answer
We are staying at Villas of the Galleon condos between the Ritz and Westin. We were married on the beach there in Dec 2003. Great location on a great stretch of beach.
Let me know what you are looking for in an accomodation and maybe I can help...I have researched GC to death

Hi Kristen,
No prob! Actually I overlooked that you were going to GC in June. I focused on your search for St. John and forgot the rest. LOL.
I was looking at your photos the other day as I remembered you had gone there before and I liked the looks of the condo you had stayed at.
I'm looking for low key, not crowded, not a big resort, clean, and friendly staff. It would be awesome if there is snorkeling close by. Don't care about too many amenities since we're pretty self sufficient and just want to check out GC. Thanks!

mymoosie, we aren't going til nov so plans not really firmed up yet. we are looking for a 3 br rental villa, in a fairly quiet spot with good snorkeling by the house and ideally on a decent walking beach for 2 weeks. someplace like aqua marine beach houses. we plan to take a cooler and do some of our own meals.
i have looked at the reef resort, which sounds like what you are describing, but it is on the east end instead of near 7 mile where most of the resorts and action are. for a short trip it might not be the best option if you want to do stuff. we are also considering condo's at the north end of 7 mile where it is supposed to be less hectic. possibly silver sands, discovery point or chris columbus.
as i understand it there is great snorkeling all up & down 7 mile.
kristen, you mention villas of the galleon which i've heard good things about. the location concerns me, as we like to pretend we are the only ones on the island. am i correct in assuming we'd have difficultly with our fantasy world in this location.

Mymoosie...then VOG sounds perfect for you!! There is snokeling out front plus you can walk to cemetery beach where there is excellent snorkeling. You are still in a quiet area but is walkable to many things. There is no pool, but who needs it! We got an awesome deal for a 2 BR oceanfront unit through VRBO (the rate he lists for September) because I booked so far in advance but the owner said he is always willing to work with you. You may not need 2 BRs but if you can get a good rate, it will end up being the same price or less than a 1BR directly through the complex itself.
Here is the link: http://www.vrbo.com/119081
I think there a couple others on VRBO too.
Another for you to consider would be Plantana.

Virginia...when we were there last, the Ritz was standing but still under construction. Even with that and the Westin on the other side, I still flet secluded. VOG property is wide and there are lots of trees. Only way I knew the Ritz was there was to up South and up
And the Westin isn't an issue at all..barely visible unless looking for it. Request a unit in the middle of the property and you'll be just fine.
The beach and great location made it a no brainer for me to go back there. Plus the gounds and villas were very nice.
I'll pot a link to my pics so you can get an idea as to the layout of the property in comparison to the surrounding hotels.

Awesome link you've created! Both yours and Mymoosies are on my favorites-I always enjoy both your trip reports, and now we get them all in 1 easy place.
Thanks for setting that up-and we will meet one day! (Mymoosie too! Although I can meet mymoosie in NOVA) 8-)

There is an aerial pic on both the VOG website (www.villasofthe galleon.com) and the VRBO listing I posted.

thanks for posting your wonderful pics and link to condo. it was looking pretty good to me until i found the one - mark w/wine - showing the nearby construction, plus one of the vrbo pics. very helpful but too close to things for us. well at least i can narrow down my list.
