Caribbean suggestions
Hi there!! My boyfriend and I are planning on taking a vacation at the end of September and I am looking for some suggestions. We visited Aruba last year and we loved it but we were hoping for a little more night life. From talking to friends, it seems like their is a trade off in the islands of beauty versus activities. Does any place offer both?? Money is not an issue, we are just looking for somewhere with a beautiful beach and good cuisine...but doesn't close up at 10PM every night?

ST. Thomas has great restaurants, beautiful beaches and a lot of options for night life. Since it is a US territory , there is no need for money exchange and no language barriers. For a nice change of pace, St. John is a short, cheap ferry ride from St. Thomas. It is more laid back but the beaches are spectacular and there are fine restaurants on the island. Night life is usually restricted to the only city (Cruz Bay), but there are some nice bars there too.E-mail if you need more details.

I agree with the last suggestion. If you likes Aruba, then St. Thomas is going to offer you the most as far as having great beaches, activities, shopping and alot to do at night. And to get away from it all, that a hop over to St. John for the day.
Bahamas also offer alot of different things to do.

Well, my perception of nitelife might be different than others and there are a few places that are open until the wee hours but the "nitelife" in St. Thomas is very mild compared to Aruba in my experience. Aruba has the booze busses and boats, the "shows" at the casinos, the really party places that go into the wee hours. And St. John doesn't offer much but a few casual bars not into the wee hours. I think that Aruba and Cancun rival each other with the nitelife. Maybe St. Martin? Don't know since I am not a nite life person but I just can't imagine St. Thomas, and even more St. John, offering more in that catagory than Aruba! But, wonderful beaches, yes, and fantastic beauty, yes! Dining is very good and certainly rivals and far exceeds Aruba in my experience. For snorkling, diving sailing it is a dream with easy access to the BVI's! I also found that Tortola seems to attract a more "partying" crowd.
