Caribbean resort advice needed

Looking to take a family vacation this spring (ages ranging from 4 months to 89 years) to an upscale, luxurious resort with lots of on-site activities that's a direct flight from NYC. Had heart set on One & Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas but it's booked for our dates. Is it worth shifting our dates by a few weeks or is there an alternative someone could recommend?
Thanks!

Beaches is nice... but definitely not as luxurious as a place like the Ocean Club. If you can shift your dates, it might be worth it. The Ocean Club is beautiful, easy to get to from NY, and you also have the Atlantis right next door. The kids would probably love visiting to go on the waterslides and walk through the dig.

Consider looking into the Westin Resort on St. John. (I have some details in my other posting, but would recommend checking out their website). Good luck!

We just got back from Beaches with a 12 year old. Had a great time. Turks and Caicos is beautiful. They also have kids clubs and babysitting. They say that the French Village area is the newest. It would definately work for all ages. It's also all-inclusive so the kids can eat and drink whenever they want.

a brief look at one and only's site makes me think that beaches is not on the same level at all. beaches looking all flashy paint and happening. o&o seems to be much more refined and laid back.
provo does have some very lux hotels, though, and most are condo style if that appeals to you. all are directly on 12 miles of perfect sand grace bay beach, so easy enough to navigate for young and old.
did you choose o&o for its proximity to atlantis or was that not part of your criteria?
ritz on st. thomas might be nice for you. easy for 89 yr old to get around, nice beach and pool w/stunning views of tortolla, st. john, etc, and quite close to entertainment for kids (ie - coki world) and ferry for day trip to st. j for older but active. snorkel nearby (5/15mins)at secret harbour/ wyndham sugar bay. Major duty free shopping on island. long list of wonderful restaurants. a little history if someone is so inclined.
