Cap Juluca Sunday Scilly Cay Boat Trip???

Has anyone ever done the boat trip on Sunday's from CJ which stops at Little Bay for snorkeling and Shoal Bay Beach...70 dollars per person round trip? An all day trip.

Is this worth it or are we better off just driving and taking the water taxi to Scilly Cay?

I can also charter private boat for 105/hour minimum 2 hours.

Any recommendations???
Is the lobster worth reserving???

Thanks!!!

Hello again! I have never done the Scilly key boat trip---as we have driven so many times, we are just use to it. However if you love rum, the rum punches are killers, dangerous and hard to drive back after a few of those.
They go down so easy!!!!
Happy Hits-nice band too!

I assume the boat does not include the price of the restaurant??? Caps boats
are lots of fun, seeing Anguilla from the sea is a must, plus the crew is excellent, rum and drinks served-all you want! Little Bay is a nice trip.

I always wanted to charter a boat for the trip, then the side trips are yours.
I think it takes about 20 minutes by boat. As far as the minimum, 2 hours could be too short, sometimes it can take 30-40 minutes for the grilled lobster/crayfish to be prepared. I love the lobster and crayfish, so sweet, love the peanut sauce. I have heard the chicken is good too! Its one of our lobster favorites. The crowd can be interesting too---

Samara,
I've done the CJ boat trip to Scilly Cay several times and gone by private boat several times. To go by private boat, you're going about half way around the island, so you may end up spending 5 hrs total. The resort trip is fun and a good price. The $70 does not included the price of the lunch. I much prefer going to Scilly Cay by boat rather than driving to Island Harbor, but that's personal preference. I just make a day of it.

I rather take a Boat trip to Prickley Pear. Scilly Cay is nice but can get crowded.

My wife and I went on the Sunday Scilly Cay boat trip and it was fantastic. The crew is wonderful and the trip is generally alot of fun and well worth the money. Also, driving all the way back to CJ after drinking those rum punches at Scilly Cay is inadvisable, and a cab both ways would eat much of the cost of the boat trip. Overall, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Maybe I should get off this board...I am probably driving everyone including myself nuts!!!!

Is the boat trip a waste if we do not snorkel?
When they go to Shoal Bay Beach is there any beach bars or something you would visit?

What is prickly Pear?????

Thanks everyone.......

I also want a vote.....for our last night dinner....
Altamer, Blanchards, Pimms or Straw Hat...
Love casually elegant....

Am I the only person in the world who thought Scilly Cay was a waste of time and money. It is a rock where you can drink rum punch and eat very expensive lobster. I loved Anguilla but I just didn't get the Scilly Cay attraction. What was I missing?

To Samara

Oh dear heart, you remind me so much of myself that I have wanted to respond to many of your posts...but I am not an Anguilla expert...and you have received wise counsel from Penny, as i did when I made my first trip to CJ back in the spring of 2002.

My trip was a belated college graduation present for my daughter and I read, read, researched and researched until I nearly drove myself crazy !

The advice I would give you is to relax !! Mango's is lovely....Dave offends many, but the setting and the food get raves.

I did the CJ trip to Scilly Cay and we don't snorkel either, but we had a great time ! Shoal Bay is beautiful....many great beach bars and most have music on Sunday.

As far as dinner for your last night....we absolutely loved Altamer. Our enjoyment had much to do with the beautiful silver, china and crystal !

I would also suggest that you search the archives and post on Caribbean-on-line.com....the Anguilla board. The experts there will never tire of your questions !

The best thing you can do for yourself and for your *intended* is to relax and enjoy whatever comes your way. Memories are made of many different things ;-) ! Sometimes the imperfections make us smile for many years to come.

Enough from *Pollyanna* in the frozen tundra of Maine !!

Best wishes...congratulations and be happy !!

Marion

Samara,
Scilly Cay is one of those must-do's. The boat trip is fun. It may feel like a long trip if you don't snorkel (it's 11:30-5), but you can walk the beach at Shoal Bay just to see it (It's referred to as one of the top 10 beaches in the Caribbean). For the first time to Anguilla, you should see Little Bay, Scilly Cay, and Shoal Bay. Next time go to Prickly Pear. I went for the first time last time and loved it. Blanchards is a good choice for your last night, unless it falls on the night they are closed. I love Altamer, too, but I don't think it has as much of an island feel as some of the others. Go there, too, but maybe another night. If you're still unsure, you can do what my husband does. Go take a look during the day and then call for a reservation to whichever one suits you best.

Samara, once you get there, see the setting, (WOW)it will all happen. Thats what its all about. I tend to research too--long before the these travel sites. I would buy every book on the caribbean!
Ann and Marion have given you great advice. All your choices are wonderful,
review the menus, look at the setting-
have fun! You can also cocktails at one location, desert or after dinner drinks at another.
