Cap accommodations

I read all the older posts and my head is swimming. We booked a Junior suite. I requested upstairs. How many of these are there? And any input for "best" location based on your experiences? I am so excited to be going. Is the Executive transfer the way to go? It isn't until May but I'm sure I'll have more questions. We are usually going to the South Pacific but this year we decided to return to the Carib & I have my fingers crossed we will love Cap. I know, how can we not! We have 3 nights to have dinners out. Any suggestions? Rent car or do taxi? Thanks!

IMHO there is no really bad location for the junior suites. Or any room. Cap has 5 villas with junior suites-30 rooms. Very nice! I honestly feel there is no best location.

The executive transfer is the way to go-it makes it very easy especially on the way back.
As for your nights out-lots of good choices, Mangos, Trattoria Tramonto, Blanchards, Straw Hat, Koal Keel.
On the moderate side Tastys, and Picante.
The best part about CJ is it is on Anguilla! You will have a wonderful time!

Thank you penny! I had just heard remarks about "don't get the middle room" and I'm not sure what that is so that is why the question. I'm not going to worry about the room in general since I am sure it will be wonderful. I will ask for the Executive service then in connection with their new Sea Shuttle service. Have you done that yet or know of anyone who has? Thanks so much for the info!

Peggy-all the rooms in the junior suite catagory are wonderful, the center room on the lower level has a lovely marble bath, but it does not have the large glass exterior wall due to its location.
I had it once. The upstairs center room has the stairway to a private 3rd floor sunning roof. How can that be bad?
Not sure how long Cap will use the sea shuttle-time will tell. It was to be used only while AXA is closed, and they should be open late this month!

Oh, I see. Guess I'll contact Cap for the latest. Or it will be back to the ferry. Thanks, I'll let you know.

I think my last email from CJ said the Sea Shuttle will go through January and into part of Feb. I took it last week and it still took two hours from clearing customs to arriving at the hotel. The confusion on the dock as to our pick up almost had me leaving to take the ferry. It saved the cab ride, but not time. I'm booking a private boat transfer for the next go around.
I'd recommend renting a car if you think you'll leave the resort more than once a day. Or if you like going out late. My first night I didn't have a car and couldn't get a taxi to meet others to hear Bankie at The Dune Preserve. I find the driving easy.

Ann, sorry to hear about your confusion at the St. Martin dock-it justifys my (splurge)choice of a private boat a few weeks ago. It is pricey! Less than one hour plane to room. Cap's boat did pick us up. Also it went like clockwork for our 7:30 am hotel departure. Nice.
I did take notice that they still use CJs 2 boats for most of the water activities --- they will use charters such as Gotcha, Funtime, too. They seem to be using only the hotel's boats for airport pick-up. I honestly don't know how it can be done well, as there are quite a few planes for arrival and departure. At times only one of CJ's boats is used!
Not getting a cab is new to me-what happened? Anyhow I hope you had a wonderful trip. Looking forward to your trip report!

Penny,
I'm still confused about the CJ Sea Shuttle. When we cleared customs and went out to the dock at 3:40 pm, I was expecting to be picked up on the last shuttle, which is 4:00 pm, according to Sue Rickett's email. When I asked who was picking us up, someone with a clipboard said that Elvis in PW was coming for us. After a while, I asked again and was told Elvis would be there in two minutes. After another while, I asked again and someone else on the dock said that he had just left (I guess before we were out on the dock). But they said Fun Time was coming. After an hour, Fun Time arrived with a crew of four. When we thought we were finally leaving, they went back to the dock to leave off one crew member with rum punches in hand. When we thought we were leaving the second time, they went back to the dock and handed two rum punches to VIP staff. When we thought we were leaving the third time, they went back to hand off two more rum punches to VIP staff. When we thought we were leaving the fourth time, they went back to pick up the crew member they had dropped off earlier. By that time I was saying "Leave Him!" and Kathie was asking if we were EVER going to leave. If I hadn't scheduled Spa appointments upon arrival, I wouldn't have minded. But I'd booked the latest appointments offered, which was 6 pm.
So we arrived too late to sign for our rental car. We didn't get a taxi that night because we were wanting to go to hear Bankie at Dune Preserve and he doesn't start until late. It was a wednesday night and were told it was too late for taxis. Oh well, maybe next time.

Ann I assume you finally got on Funtime,
I hope you got to enjoy a rum punch too!
Ahhhh Island Time! Honestly I would have been very annoyed--you sound so calm. I hope you made your spa apointment (better than a rum punch anytime)!
Cap has taxis parked near the circle-but I am sure they could have called someone. What time did you ask for a cab. Mac is great, so is Nell, hard to believe the hotel did not call someone!
Did you ever get over to The Dune?

Penny, The Fun Time rum punches are all alcohol, so we took our time with those. With the sea being a little rough, I think just as much went on me as down me. It wasn't too long before one of the crew took mine away to save me.
We had our massages on our rooftop terrace and soon forgot about how much fun it was to try the new sea shuttle.
oh, it was very late when we were wanting to go to The Dune. The concierge desk and front desk were closed down. There were no taxis out front. I think it was a switchboard operator who came out and told us it was too late for taxis on a Wednesday night. On the weekends, it's different. So we never made it to the Dune. But after we got our car, we went to Johnnos, Pump House, and Rumza. We started getting the hang of taking naps after dinner and getting up to go out again. Only with a former college roommate.
I did a little splurging, too. We spent a day on Summer Time, the newest addition to the Gotcha fleet. It was very relaxing. We took a tour around the island with stops at Little Bay and Prickly Pear. We ate lunch at one of the restaurants on Prickly Pear. It was fun to have someone along who had never been to the island before. She loved it and is planning two more trips in the future. I already have two more trips planned, but that's how it always is.
