Can I sneak booze on an NCL cruise?

I'm also amused by this post.
I've taken a few cruises and never thought of "smuggling" anything.
Maybe I'm missing something, but why not just put the 'booze' of choice in your suitcase ?
I can't imagine that bags are searched individually. Lord, with any NCL cruise, you'd never leave port. Lots of passengers...lots of bags !
Put it in the suitcase and fret not

Ok I don't have personal experience with this but I started reading the threads in that cruise forum and those people are definitely cruise fanatics and know their stuff.
Apparently EVERYONE knows about this smuggling of booze thing but like Marion says, they can't inspect each and every single bag. They do xray the checked in luggage and its pretty much the luck of the draw. It looked like the worse you can do is they take it away.
Now my hairstylist has been raving about the Scope bottle technique for a long time (though I've yet to take a cruise). The trick is to make sure you wash that bottle waaaaaay before you plan to use it. Use baking soda and water and let it soak for several days, and keep repeating that to get all the residue out.
If you're going to do that, why not get a head start and try it out and put your liquor of choice while at home and see if you've gotten all the residue out rather than discovering once you're on the boat that you've got minty liquor.
