Speaking of rum a pal of mine gave me a bottle of 2 yr. old Cruzan from his recent Carib. cruise and I must say how impressed I am with this. Again its only 2 yrs. old but its very smooth. No wonder I raved about the aged Cruzan I brought back few St. Thomas a few yrs. ago.
Hey JW! Cruzan rum is a favorite of mine. When I lived on STX, my roommate was the chemist for the distillery. She brought home test batches of their Clipper spiced rum when they were perfecting it for me to taste and give opinion. I had bottles labeled #3, #19, etc in my liquor cabinet. The final version was rubber stamped by my rum flavored pysche. I believe they have been bought out and the local family business isn't what it once was, however. Good memories, though!
I just wanted to caution everyone returning to the US that some airports outside the US will follow rules that are different than TSA rules. I flew out of SLU airport (St. Lucia) last month, and their rules for liquids were 1) you could bring your own beverages past security into the boarding area but not onto the plane (they did a full search just before boarding), 2) you could not bring any liquids (including duty free alcohol) purchased inside the secured area onto the plane in your carry-on (but if you were earlier enough you could go back through security to put it in your checked baggage).
BTownJ -- you can bring more booze back from Us territories {PR, USVI} than you can from foreign countries.
