BOUGAINVILLEA PENTHOUSE

I am planning a visit for three weeks at the bougainvillea in barbados and I am undecided on whether to book a penthouse suite or a one bedroomed suite, can anybody who has stayed there please advise of the accomodation differences between both or let us know what accomodation you stayed in at the bougainvillea and how you rated it. also can anybody advise what the weather is like in september? MANY THANKS TILLY

We stayed overnight in a one bedroom studio room. I was surprized how large the room (the smallest available) was. There was a nice-sized patio with a small decorative pool; an efficiency kitchen and a large bathroom. Judging by the size of the studio room, a one-br should suit two persons just fine. (If it were me, I would rather spend my $$$ somewhere else, i.e., dining or entertainment, than for a larger room if I were staying at the Bougainvillea.

Tilly-check out my response to this question you posted on where2stay.com. Like Ana, we found the room to be quite LARGE and more than spacious. I forgot to mention that in addition to the king size bed, the sofa converted to a bed. Now I'm curious to hear from someone who's stayed in the penthouse !!

We stayed at the Bougainvilla in Feb. 2000 in a 4th floor suite (no elevator's). The room's were quite large plus a kitchen and veranda. I didn't realize they had a penthouse suite. All rooms are suite's why pay the extra money.

Hi Tilly,

I didn't even know that they had penthouse units. We stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment suite where the bedroom is separate from the living-room/kitchen area. It was very spacious for 2 people and it was nice to be able to get up in the night (I am an insomniac) and go into the living room and read without the light disturbing my husband.

We stayed on the 2nd floor and that would be my choice again. The ground floor units have some mosquitos on the patio at night due to the lush landscaping, but there were none higher. Any higher than the 2nd floor is a long hike carrying bags of groceries (those rum bottles are heavy!).

Like other posters, I wouldn't spring for the extra bucks for the penthouse, but now I'd sure like to hear from someone who stayed in one LOL.

Linda
