Bomba's Shack Full Moon Party

I'm planning a trip to tortola in April or May and I am wondering if I should plan to attend the full moon party. What goes on? What type and age people attend? Thanks! John

Hi John...My husband and I went to the full moon party last July. We had a great time. All the tourist go, we went with people from our hotel. There is people of all ages at the party. It is like a big street party. There was about 400 people and everybody was having a good time. One suggestion I can give you is stick to bottled beer. If you heard about Bomba's full moon party, you now what I mean!
Have a good time.
Laurie

Reinaldo, check your calender for May and see what day the full moon will be and you'll have answered your question.
Prospect Reef is probably the biggest resort on Tortola, located on the edge of Roadtown. Ample tennis courts if that's your game. Buildings are too packed in for my tastes and it appears to me that many rooms will have very little view. Have heard good and bad during the 5 yrs I've been a BVI regular.
If you have the option to change resorts, I would suggest you try Frenchman's Cay Hotel. Never could figure why they call it a hotel as it's a collection of one and two bedroom villas. Fabulous view from every villa. Probably the same price range. And much less crowded. Island's best restaurant which is cozy and breezy and almost right on the water. Roomy. Great service.
No matter where you stay, be sure to have a 4WD vehicle in your package for the full time you're there. The island is fabulous to drive around on... many deserted beaches, lots of hills and mountain crests to see.
Also, catch the ferry from Roadtown or West End over to St. Thomas for a day's shopping.
My last recommendation is a must. Take a full day on the Patouche II for great snorkling with a super crew.
Bon voyage.

If you want the real scoop on Bomba's, just pick up the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. It was shot in the BVI, ans they did a nice piece on Bomba, it'll tell you all you need to know. Don't take our word for it, read the article.
