It's a wonderful, picturesque and very expensive place! Quite secluded, which I imagine would notbe a hardship on your honeymoon! Are you boating people, by any chance? This area is one of the great sailing meccas, and if you go you should experience the islands by water, also! Good luck and have a wonderful honeymoon!

I have never STAYED at Biras Creek, but during each of the three times I have stayed at the Bitter End, which is nearby, I have walked over to the facility with my husband. We have always been impressed with how deserted the place appears. We never see anybody. It does have a nice setting overlooking the Atlantic; it has a nice pool and tennis courts; the restaurant has a good reputation. BUT, "it doesn't hold a candle" to the Bitter End. There are other places which hold more promise, especially at the rates charged by Biras Creek.

Penelope, I am going to the BEYC this summer. Looking forward to this trip more then anything!
Sounds like an outstanding and beautiful place.
Can you please though, tell me how you flew there? Did you connect in San Juan and if you did was it an awful experience? Got any helpful hints? I've been hearing and reading horror stories about American A/L and making connections there? Help? Set my mind at ease.

Jeanne: We have always flown from Atlanta to San Juan and taken the AA puddlejumper to Tortola. It has always been very satisfactory. One recommendation we do have is to spend the night on Tortola at the motel run by the Moorings charter operation and use their shuttle to/from the Beef Island airport. Then, take the early North Sound express from Tortola to the Bitter End. Otherwise, you get to the Bitter End very late in the day, not a good idea considering its cost and your loss of valuable time. Watch out for the roaming cows on Tortola, however. One butted me into a drainage ditch full of muck. You'll see elsewhere my remarks about the Bitter End. Let me add that if you like steel bands, dancing, television, and lots of people, you'll like the Bitter End. My husband and I are quiet types who like to sit under the palm trees at night, listen to the lapping waves and watch the stars.

Reason you didn't see anyone, you didn't venture down to the lovely beach. Biras has only 32 rooms which makes for a wonderful private and peaceful time! Food is tops---Jamie from Peter Island now running the show! Actually we went to Bitter End from Biras and couldn't wait to leave to get away from all the hussle and bussle, the kids and the "excitement." If it's beauty and privacy, there are few that can match Biras. We stay on Tortola, flying in the night before (for the same reasons stated before), and transfer to Biras by their own private boat. They will also meet you at airport and transfer you right from Beef Island. Another spot to consider....Peter Island. It's really hard to choose between those two.

The places I would pick for honeymoon would include No. 1, Guana Island, No 2., Little Dix, and No. 3 Biras Creek. I would not recommend Bitter End, not enough peace and quiet. If you are at Biras Creek it is is a short walk to Bitter End. Little Dix is everything you would ask for in a world class resort. Biras Creek is smaller and more understated. You are also on the windward side so you have lots of breeze. Snorkeling is not very good in the area.
To me Guana Island is a very special place and also unusual with regard to its flora and fauna compared to other nearby islands. Since this is a honeymoon and a special time, I think it warrants a special place. Check http://www.guana.com for details.

If budget is any concern, there are are also very nice places for half the price. You can contact me direct for suggestions.
