Bermuda After Hurricane
We are scheduled to go to Bermuda 10/11. Is there anyone else out there that has just gotten back or is going. We are still making our final decision on whether we are going. We are concerned how the island is after the hurricane.

Penny are you in Bermuda or are you in contact with anyone there? We are supposed to stay at the Pompano Beach which has not had too much damage. The causeway is limited to one lane traffic during the day only and it may be difficult to get around.
I would like to here from somone that is there or is going or just come back.
Also Jaydie1 I am having difficulty getting into that site as you need to have a special mededia flash. I don'thave it.
I am not real computer oriented

Hi Linda, no I have not been there since
Fabian, but spoke to The Surfside. They were opened right after the storm, they had minor damage. I know this was a bad hurricane, but I would not let it stop me. It appears most places are opened. I was on the island during hurricane Karen October 2001, not the force of this storm but it was amazing how fast the island came back. As far as the causeway it might cause a little back up when the planes arrive, but since you are staying at Pompano there is no reason to go over it, just back and forth to the airport. Remember this island turned away two British ships sent to help. The island has a strong intrastructure! I am sure you will not have a problem getting around the island!

We have friends living on the island and they are still picking up the pieces. Not sure where what state Pompano Beach is in. Things are gradually getting back to some order though and if I know the Bermudians, it won't take long before it's cleaned up. You will probably be o.k. by Oct. Also check out www.bermy.net. Good luck!
