BEACHES - TURKS & CAICOS

We're planning a family trip to TCI Beaches in April 2002(last week). I've read such good things about it except that I'm concerned about the jelly fish. I thought the season was May (which is why I switched to April). Would hate to get there and not be able to swim in the ocean. I go to Club Med TCI every August and have never once seen or even heard of jelly fish there. Any info would be most appreciated.

We were at Beaches in the month of April and did not see any jelly fish. Sides, if you did not see any at Club Med you will proubly not see any at Beaches as they are down the beach from each other.

I was on Provo April 16 - 23 and there were two mornings the water was filled with jelly fish and you couldn't go in. They mysteriously would disappear around noon. They are not the kind of jelly fish we know (i.e. large and clear-jelly like) but are small, brown, thimble jelly fish. There were literally millions of them blanketing the first 20 feet of the water. Don't know if you could swim through them but I wouldn't want to try.

Hello,

I live in Provo. The jellyfish usually show up around April. We never know exactly when or how many we're gonna get. Some people can swim through them and it won't affect them. Others will have an allergic reaction to their sting. They last anywhere from 3-6 weeks.

If I can help anyone on Turks and Caicos, just email me. It will be a pleasure.

Jade

Were where in T+C the last week in May 2000. The first 2 or 3 days we had tons of Jelly/thimble fish. We went snorkling anyway, and I had a very mild reaction(not a big deal). The last 5 days of our trip they completely cleared - didn't see a one.
