Beach Shack

Hi there, my girlfriend and I are looking for an island near St Martin (or maybe somewhere on St Martin itself) where we might be able to find a single room shack type place to rent on the beach.Very minimalist, very rustic, and no more than $1,000 for a week (12/13-12/18). We just want a very simple shack on the beach where we can read and swim all day long.

Any tips? We'll be on St Martin already so somewhere near there would be ideal. Anguilla, St Barts, Saba?

Doesn't exist - any "shack" on/near the beach in Anguilla or St. Barts is going to be a multi-million dollar multi-bedroom villa with rental prices to match. And Saba has no beaches so by definition no "beach shacks" there.

St. Martin has plenty of beachfront villas, condos and time shares but here again nothing like a rustic shack.

On Anguilla you might look at Shoal Bay Villas - it's a complex of apartments that are right on one of the island's best beaches. Might be the closest to what you are seeking but that are not stand alone "shacks" and not rustic. Not sure f hey are in your price range but are probably the least expensive beachfront accommodations on the island.

If you're looking for what I think you're looking for, you'll have to go to Mexico, especially down by Costa Maya.

Belize and Honduras maybe too.

Anguilla and St. Barth are 2 of the most expensive islands in Caribbean, Shoal Bay villas will run you about $2500 plus taxes and not even oceanfront.

Yu really won't find anything in the Caribbean area for that price. Additionally rates increase on the 15th to about double as it's peak season.

What Blamona says. Sounds like you should have booked somewhere around Tulum. Loads of cabanas on the beach there.

Just chiming in to agree that Mexico and Central America are a lot more likely to have what you describe than the Caribbean islands.
