Beach on St. Thomas in front of Marriott Hotel
Hello everyone -
Can anyone who's stayed at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef / Morning Star Resort please provide input on the beach in front of the hotel?
Is the sand soft?
Is the beach crowded?
How is the snorkeling?
My husband and I are leaning towards going there in December.
Thanks so much!

The Marriott Frenchman's Reef sits high on a cliff and the beach below is actually man-made (sand was hauled in). While nice, it looks a little unnatural. I do not think that there will be any snorkling there.

I have recently read a review that said this beach was frequented by a younger, more sexually "free" crowd (meaning very skimpy suits and/or alternative lifestyles) If you would have a problem with this you might want to look into it further.

Thanks everyone for your input.
We will be going w/ Marriott Points, so I am assuming we'll have to stay at the Frenchman's Reef as opposed to the Morningstar, which I hear is nicer.
My question is - - is it a far walk down to the beach from the Frenchman's Reef? I have heard "hilly, treacherous" even . . . is this really the case?
Is it longer than a 5 minute walk?
Thanks again everyone.

There is an elevator that gets you from Frenchman's down to the beach - nothing difficult about it.
The entire resort is family friendly - you will not be exposed to anything you would not see at any other resort.
The beach is fine - not the best in the VIs and not the worst. I agree that there is not much snorkeling right at the resort.
For a chain hotel with easy access to CA, it is a good choice.
