Be wary of Aguadilla, 1K fine, corruption

I visited Crash Boat beach on 2/9/2025. I enjoyed the beach, water, and sand for 3-4 hours then planned to leave for a late lunch. I then found a ticket on my rental car for $1000.00! I supposedly parked in a handicapped spot - that does not at all conform to ADA standards, which PR supposedly follows. See picture - no vertical signage, blue squares with no handicap symbol; compare that to an image of proper handicapped makings in Cabo Rojo, PR.

I tried to fight the fine in court, as an appeal after paying - a zoom hearing was promised but the Aguadilla court never responded. I would be vary careful parking in Aguadilla - it reeks of public corruption, to nab unwary visitors. Perhaps just visit an alternate beautiful site in PR, avoid Aguadilla.

Aguadilla, Crash boat beach very shabbily marked disabled parking; I have tried posting the images multiple times, but I am told I cannot post URLs. Odd. They are images, not URLs I tried that. I loaded a pic from my computer in a f/u post, and it told me:

Tourists can be targets in some places. My friend Larry got a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign in Holguin, Cuba. Of course the officer was not above taking a side payment on the spot.

How do they enforce you paying?

Aguadilla attaches the fine to the car, license number/VIN number I suppose. The bill goes to Hertz if not paid. Then Hertz goes after the driver that rented from them, and they have your CC number. There is no escape here.

I have an image of the police/judge splitting my fee. $150 goes into the public coffer for parking in the supposed handicapped spot, then they split the rest
