Barbados in March

My husband and I are travelling to Barbados the week of March 8-17. We are looking for a hotel. Any suggestions? Nice but not too expensive. And what about food, is it better to go all-inclusive or are restaurant prices reasonable? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I would suggest looking at Treasure Beach. It is a small hotel on the beach with a pool, friendly service, and great food.

Treasure Beach is nice - special the Hemmingway Suite! But why not Cobblers Cove? But they are both not really that reasonable or?

Food is ghastly expensive. We stayed at the Asta last year - great beachfromt location, but we hired a local cook and trucked to the grocery store.
Almond Beach Club is nice for adults, and most of the good reorts just keep getting pricier from there.
A good low budget one on the south coast is called Peach and Quiet - could have lots of wind.
We visited a brand new hotel with really nice self-catering rooms - Coral Sands, amazing beach front - brand new everything - $300US per night.
The Woodville - called something else now, was a really good deal, had a nice little resturant, and a short walk to a specatacular beach.
Just accept that Barbados is hugely expensive, no matter how you slice it.
Think about security and mosquito control (denge fever) before you select a low budget accommodation.

The week you are going is still in high season, so any accommodation is peak priced -- it will be about 35% less expensive starting April 16.

Coral Sands Beach Resort is brand new and gorgeous and on a gorgeous beach. You can find their site at:
http://www.coralsandsresort.com

In the previous message, Woodville is now called "Allamanda" -- it is same owner, just a name change. It's a nice place.

Also on the South Coast and lovely is Bougainvillea Beach Resort. The beach is lovely, but has more waves than the calmer "Sandy Beach" which is where Coral Sands is located.

Sandy Beach Island Resort is on Sandy Beach. It's an older property, but they keep refurbishing.

I hear that Causaurina on the south coast is great.

You should check out the tourism board's main site. All of the accommodations are listed there as well as some of their sites (go into the area for hotels by name). I'm sure you will find something.

Write me if you need specific help. My husband and I have been 15 times.

I always like to eat at local restaurants rather than "all inclusive" -- you miss so much when you don't. There are some gorgeous ones - setting is spectacular and food is gourmet: The Cliff and Carambola. Lots of other great ones too in all price ranges. If you want details I'll be glad to help you out.
