Back from Great Guana Cay, Abaco

Great Guana Cay, 7 miles off the coast of Marsh Harbor, is a delightful and lovely boating island. Boating is the means of transportation as no cars on the island, only golf carts, with some roads a lot to be desired. The Sea of Abaco is beautiful; the people are the friendliest, willing and accommodating. There are 100's and 100's of cays that one can boat to; the beaches are beautiful, secluded and remote. It is a boater's paradise and would highly recommend Great Guana Cay to all who are into boating....

Bette; Where did you stay on Guana. Did you stay at the Guana Seaside Village? Dolphin Resort? Just curious, Robert

Dear Robert: We stayed at Guana Seaside Village, 8 rooms, of which maybe 4-6 were occupied. Had dinner at the Dolphin as well as at the other resorts, including the world-renowned Nippers! All in all, it was a most enjoyable and relaxing vacation. On the downside, since it is mandatory that you have a boat we rented one for a few days. However, I am not a lover of boats/sailing so I wasn't too much of a happy camper sailing on the Sea of Abaco!! I truly believe that if one is into sailing/boating, they would absolutely love it!! I, in the future, like my feet to be planted!!...

Bette; I know. We were there in late April and the Sea of Abaco was too choppy to rent a boat from the mainland of Abaco. How was Glenn and Renee?? What a riot those two are. The snorkeling was great at High Rocks, and snorkeling with Froggies dive op with Dolphin Beach resort was fun. Saw huge pod of dolphins with a baby less than two feet long. Plenty of Caribbean Reef Sharks, too. Glad you had a good time. Robert

Dear Robert: Glen and Renee were the greatest!!. In fact, found the people on the Island to be wonderful....one of the nicest!! When we rented the boat, the first day out we had to call a "mayday" and the 2nd day out we lost our anchor and was floating in the middle of the Sea of Abaco as we were both napping....Some sailors we are!! Forget about it!! From now, only beach and sun and feet planted firmly on the ground......and....no boating/sailing for us!!
