Atlantis visit-first time

My husband , myself, and 2 kids (7&11) are going to Nassau for the first time (staying at Atlantis). Would appreciate ANY advice regarding the resort, especially eating, and what to see in Nassau. Thanks

The restaurants at Atlantis are very good but very expensive. There are other less expensive places to eat on Paradise Island but my one "sure thing" recommendation is The Poop Deck, which serves fresh seafood and Caribbean cuisine. To get there, walk across the Paradise Island bridge and turn left. Go up 100 yards or so and The Poop Deck is on the left. Well worth it.

Anthony's Caribbean Grill, near the Comfort Suites (about a 200-yard walk from the Atlantis) has excellent seafood. Also the Blue Marlin -- and if you make reservations, you can catch a fire-eating show during dinner.

This may sound odd, but when we stayed at the Atlantis, we LIVED on the nachoes at the poolside cabanas. They're only $4 -- which, you'll find, is far cheaper than anything else on Atlantis property -- but very good and very filling. Just a quick, inexpensive lunch option, especially for your kids.

I personally found Atlantis beautiful, but poor on the food side. I bought a meal plan ( the cheaper one) and was very dissatisfied with the food. If you are planning to eat on the premises, buy a luxury meal plan - it covers most of the restaurants and well worth extra money. The best buffet is "Marketplace" in the main building. There you can seat outside as well as inside. Problem - seagulls are really agressive in the morning (trying to steal food off your plates)- a lot of kids get scared and start crying. Do not go to "Seagrapes" for dinner - less food, and they have clowns for kids in the evening - nasty!!! "Lagoon Bar and Grill" has great sandwiches - their tuna salad is AMAZING!!! And they are not very expencive - perfect choice for lunch - close to the ocean. Lunch is not covered by the meal plan. Good advice - take nuts, chips and other munchies for kids from home - they will come very handy on the beach or by the pool in the afternoon.
For you and your kids the best place to swim would be the Cove beach - water is very calm and warm there. Lagoon is ok too, but the water there smells a little.
Make sure you take a walk at the Marina (very romantic in the evening). Those million-dollar yahts and villas are beautiful.
Have fun!!!

Have been to the Atlantis several times and have spent much LESS of food WITHOUT the meal plan. We aren't big on breakfast so we just bring granola bars or walk to the New STand at the Hurricane Hole Shopping Center down the street for a reasonably priced breakfast. Lunch at the Lagoon Bar and Grille is great. Then we would have a nice dinner. WE don't love buffets. We spent MUCH less money without the meal plan than with it.
