Atlantis Paradise Island Water Park?
Hello Fellow Travelers,
I am going on a cruise via royal caribbean and have one day (8hrs) in Nassau and wanted to know if anyone has done an excurision to Atlantis where the water park was included. This excursion is pretty pricey and I was not sure if this was just a supped up US water park. In addition are the lines long for the water slides? We will be in Nassau on the 18th of this month.
I would also like to check out downtown and the straw market and heard that the location of where the ships dock is within walking distance of downtown and the straw market, is this true? Any advice would get great. Specific details would be ideal (for example
traw market located one block left )

The length of the lines would depend on the occupancy of the resort. I've been to Atlantis several times in July and the lines for the "Leap of Faith" slide were quite long, but moved quickly.
Depending on how many people are in your party, it may be less expensive to book a room at the Comfort Suites which will give full access to everything at Atlantis.

Thank you "schmerl" this is most helpful and yes I was not sure if Atlantis granted day passes or not...I guess it depends. I will book via my cruise ship and do access to Atlantis that includes lunch and a spot on the beach. I will forgo the package that allows for pool and water slides...to come all this way I would rather be in that beautiful clear water vs. a pool/water slide that I can get in the US. Many thanks you really helped me plan and save 150.00 dollars. I will use that money for a drink by the beach and cheers to you.

If all you are looking for is a great beach and a drink.. don't waste your money on Atlantis.
you can get the same thing for $25 at the Sheraton at Cable Beach.. without the crowds. They have a nice bar and grill for lunch as well.
At Atlantis, you are restricted to a roped off area of the beach for cruisers only. And mid day food venues are cheap. The day pass is a rip off.

Thank you both! I was not sure if I needed to visit Atlantis as soooooo many people told me it was a must see and I was thinking would it be like going to paris and not see the eiffel tower if I did't go? but I guess not. I see an excursion to cable beach I will look into it. Maybe I will pretend I went to Atlantis as I pretened to be wowed by the hotels in Vegas...a mall is a mall to me even if people live to the left and right and its called an hotel *smile*
