I have been to the Atlantis several times. I do NOT wear a Rolex and never felt snubbed by anyone. Everyone says how expensive the food is, but it's really no more than any other nice resort. The grounds are incredible. Walk through aquariums and the Dig which supposedly looks like they think the lost city of Atlantis would look. The place is HUGE with lots of new things to see every day. There are about 11 pools and fantastic slides. The beach is also great. We LOVE it there.

When you say expensive, what are we talking here for 2 adults and one child? I just came back from a horrendous vacation from Beaches T&C and paid including air fare 4,300. I thought that was cheap but would definitely pay more for a better stay at another resort. We need a feel good after this vacation and we are looking for something with class and better treatment. Like top notch cruise quality treatment. I'm hoping this place has this..Thanks, Lisa

I went last month with my family and had a great time (do a search on Atlantis and you can read my full trip report). The service was much better than I expected (good, prompt, and courteous), but it was not "top notch cruise quality treatment" as it was not very personal. However the resort is beautiful with lots to do; my kids liked it better than Disney. The price really depends on what kind of airfare you get, where you stay, and how much you eat out. I would definately go again, but it does get mixed reviews which shows that it is not for everyone.

Lisa,
We were there early July and it is a great place stay. The pools, slides, aquariums, beach and the waterscape is wonderful. It is probably the largest resort anywhere in the islands. There os plenty to do.
When people say that the food is expensive, its all relative to what your used to. In the gourmet restaurants expect to pay about $60. per person without alchohol (dinner)and I did not think the food was worth it. The buffets are about $40.The rooms run about $185. a night on up, depending on which tower you stay in. The Royal towers are the nicest. Check out their website. Overall, the service could be better, but its what we expected of such a big place.
Have a great time if you go.

i am wondering which is most cost effective and/or gives me the most access to the atlantis- i am going on cruise with norwegian to the bahamas and am trying whether to sign up for the excursion with the cruise ship or book a room (Comfort Suites) for the day and take cabs to/from the docks. anyone know how much the excursion costs? does it provide complete access to pools and slides at the atlantis? thank you for your help- we are going in Jan -Susan

Susan,
You should be able to get the cost of the excursion from Norwegian. I don't know for certain if the ship's excursion includes access to the pools and slides. If you get a room at Comfort Suites, you have access to everything at Atlantis.

You may want to sleep aboard the cruise ship, since you are within walking distance of many extra things to see, including the old Nassau with carriage rides, etc. Plus, you can take a small ferry boat, about 25 feet long, across the waters to Paradise Island, for only a couple dollars per person. It is run by local Bahamians and they run you through the docked cruise ships, follow the PI shoreline, and drop you off right at the base of the Paradise Island Bridge, on the PI side of course. There, you can walk for several minutes and reach the Atlantis properties. Also, the Blue Lagoon excursion boat is only several feet away from where the local ferry boat drops you off. You're kids may want to experience their dolphin encounters, and visit a real Bahamian Island as well. The point being you don't have to hassle with a taxi to get to PI and back. Just stroll around the dock area and ask where the ferry to PI is, and you'll find it quickly. The ferry captain also gives a fun rendition of the movie stars and others who live and have lived in the mansions along the way. Robert
