does anyone know anything about the construction at atlantis in the bahamas? is it finished and is it only by the Royal towers?

There is MAJOR construction happening at Atlantis thru Summer 2007 and beyond. It's Mainly near the Royal Towers, but there is also a huge convention center being built on Casino Drive (near the entrance to the Coral/Beach Towers.

Depending on the room, quite a few "views" are of the construction site, and depending on the day, you can sometimes hear the construction noises from the RT pool areas.

Atlantis tries very hard not to make it noticeable, .. but it's hard to ignore 100 acres of highrise buildings going up next door.

Sorry to cut in, but how does this construction affect Riu,next door?

You may be able to see the convention center construction from the Riu since the Riu is right next to the Beach Tower. It didn't bother us and we were in the Beach Tower. We didn't notice any noise, but you might find it a bit of an eyesore.

One and Only is unaffected (unless you head to Atlantis to use the property). The Ocean Club is a bit of a distance down the road. A world of it's own.

Thanks, we do plan on visiting Atlantis for a day. We have a 6 yr boy with us and thought he would enjoy it.


This will be our first trip to Nassau.

THe Atlantis is a huge resort and there is so much to see, your little one will have a GREAT time.

YOu also might see the Ardastra Zoo and Gardens which is just off E Bay St, you can take the #10 bus from downtown Nassau just tell the driver you are going to the Zoo.

Also the Pirate Museum downtown Nassau will probably also be a hit as well as the Straw Market.

Does anyone have an update on the construction at Atlantis? Their web site claims the new resort additions are to be completed in early 2007. Would love an opinion from someone who has been there recently.

I would have never known there was a Zoo in the Bahamas, thanks for the info, that certainly seals the deal we have with taking our 8 year old to the Atlantis Hotel for the day, overnighting and going to the Zoo !
